For our next trip, DH and I are looking into renting a small vacation home or condo (something just for the two of us.) Has anyone ever done this? Where do I begin? Where can I learn all the ins-and-outs? I have read that you can save money going directly through the owner, but, how do I find these owners?

Thanks!

just 2 people - when are you going - when it gets closer to the time

www.skyauction.com

look at skyauction for last minute bargins. I would get something before hand - just in case that you can't find anything on skyauction or you get out bided - make sure you understand the cancellation policy - some things let you cancel 5 days before hand (so skyauction is great for those) - some things don't allow you to cancel period - the Marriott CY in DD deals were of that nature. so is skyauction so make sure you really want it before you bid.

if you want to stay on property - then the All stars is nice (not great) but definitely nice.

If you spend a little more you can rent points from a DVC member and stay in a studio for around $80 (OKW) to $120 (all the others VWL, BCV or BWV) if there is availability.

Just go to Google, Yahoo or any search engine you want and search for "Orlando rental home". "Disney vacation home" or something similar.

You will get thousands of sites.

If you can be more specific ie what sub-division (Lindfields, Crrekside, Hampton Lakes etc.) you can refine your search greatly.

Good Hunting!

I have no idea of what sub-divisions there are to choose from. We stayed at POR when we went to WDW last year, but this trip we want to see all the other sites in central florida and stay for an extended time, which is why we think a home will be better than a hotel.

We will primarily be doing Universal/SeaWorld (plus KSC, Busch and maybe a little Disney) Are there any sub-divisions near Universal?

We will have a car the entire stay, so driving a bit is okay

Hi...there are very few if any rental homes near Universal or Sea World....For the two of you, the only real reason to get a small home is a private pool if you are big swimmers....otherwise a nice one or two bedroom condo would be perfect. If you are a bit adverturesome and you will be staying Sat to Sat or Sunday to Sunday then www.Skyauction.com is really a great deal. If not, I would suggest looking for a condo via the internet search for "Villas at Sommerset" these are older two and 3 bedroom condos off 192 on Poinciana Blvd...nice back way to Sea World via Poinciana to 535 to International Drive. These are 70 to 85/ night and very comfortable but basic. If you look for a home choose a property on 192 not hwy 27. It is just to far to I-4 and Sea World/ Universal. Closest woudl be Oak Island Cove just off 192...they have 3 bedrooms, I believe....As site like www.villadirect.com could show you some nice places and few more condos...good luck....Ted

Hi,

You can rent an apartment/condo in the area, not much on I-drive but there are plenty close to the parks.

We use PRV Vacations and I know they have condos for 2 people. We always rent 4/5 bed homes so I have not sampled the condos but the house they have are really nice. Alternatively you could rent a 3 bed pool home, then you get the private pool too.

Try contacting them, maybe they will have one for you. info@paradiseresortvillas.com
