Vacation budget WWYD?

Op's question can have many 'right' answers...depending on circumstances. If you have the $$$ to spend on a vacation, just spend it where you want it. If you're struggling financially, but want everything 'perfect' then I'd think again. If it means you don't eat real food for months to pay for the $$$ trip,I'd rethink. For me,I look at bottom line and budget for every vacation.(That way I can go to more places) but that's what's important to me,as noted,a pp chose a shorter disney cruise over a longer non disney cruise. It really all depends. I personally would choose the less $ option, and adjust my other plans around that. This is of course, not knowing anything about OP's priorities.... just my own, which usually requires a strict budget line-

I think this is sort of what we keep struggling with when thinking about this vacation. It's a lot of money. It's more than I've ever spent on the one portion of a trip. Sometimes I'm ok with spending that much and sometimes all I can see is the snowball and how big the total will be.

We'll still have airfare (though hopefully that'll be on points), food, excursions, etc. I've never really "budgeted" for vacation extras. I just go with what I want and then pay the piper when the bill comes lol.

Finding this great itinerary has made us realize that we'll feel cheated with the other options. I'm not great at saving extra but hopefully since this not until 2019, I'll be able to save some extra so I can make myself feel like it's not as much (this is really strange logic, I know).
