This year, I decided to stay at the Hilton Gatwick Hotel, at the south terminal, as I was fed up of the driving there, parking etc, and being knackered when we got there.

So we are getting there a day early and staying at the hotel etc.

Now I have read the twilight check in which you can do at Gatwick which is brilliant, but I wondered what peoples experiences were like, any tips, but my main question is

if you drop all the suitcases off and then go to the hotel, what do people do about a change of clothes? espcially undies !!

I can understand not taking towels, toiletires, but I wondered what other people did or thought?

any tips would be appreciated folks

thanks again

Kev

We usually take old stuff to sleepin etc and then just throw it away in the morning. For the weeks before we go when we get near the end of a tube of toothpaste or deodorant etc we would put it away for the night before and use those.

We quite often go and get a cheap tshirt or something from primark or tescos to sleep in. I prefer to not have all the bits to carry around with me the next day.

We do the same, wear old undies and then throw them away. Boys sleep in old boxers, daughter & I old T Shirts & knickers. Hope there's never a fire alarm!!!

Hate to be the cleaner at these hotels:rotfl2: (I did tie them up in a carrier bag before putting in bin)

We slept in old underwear, which we threw away the next day, and wore the same clothes to travel in. I really don't think there is a problem with wearing the same T-shirt and trousers for two days. :confused3

We always keep the car at the airport for that night and put our overnight bag back in it before moving to the summer special car park. This was always easier for us as we have a little one.

Especially as your not putting your 'travel' clothes on until late pm anyway. Besides what's 2 days-my 15 yr old thinks its OK to wear the same clothes all week!:rotfl2:

brillaint replies folks, that that sorted then,
old clothes and then throw them out.

Thanks to you all

If you use twilight check in does it mean that you bags come off the plane last as they went on first? :confused3

We have found that the bags have come off quite quickly - normally they are there when we get through immegration - but you might need to check both carosels as our have been on the PE/Upper belt even when flying ecomony!

We love Twlight Check-in - never had more than 2 groups in front of us in the line. :thumbsup2

We always stay in a hotel just outside Gatwick and drive to the Summer Special car park in the morning so we are able to put overnight clothes in the boot of the car.
We've never had more than 1 group of people in front of us for the Twilight checkin. We drive down early afternoon, check in at Gatwick and then go straight to hotel. Have something to eat and chill out for the evening. Also fill in the Visa waiver forms etc the evening before which we're given when we check in.

We got caught in a fire alarm at the Gatwick Sofitel in December 2006 at 2.30am. Managed to throw on some sweatshirts and made it all the way to the lobby before beign told it was a false alarm! It was a bit embarrassing but I figured I was very unlikely to meet any of those people again and they all looked just as bad as us.

On our last trip in July 07, we took the National Express to Gatwick for the Twilight Check In. When we got there, there was absolutely no one in the queue...so we were done in five minutes. We're definately going to be doing this next time too. We stayed at a nearby hotel overnight for the 11:15-ish flight the next morning.

You can fit quite a lot in your hand luggage, so I took - amongst other things:

I usually wear a camisole, under a hoodie or something, so I take a change of top with me, underwear, a cap, sunglasses, toiletries put into travel sizes - just enough for the evening/following day, so you can throw the bottles away when they're finished with...
