V & Me 3rd Times a Charm! August PTR

Hi Erin,

Excited to see what you come up with for V's customs this trip.
It may add some expense but it is so worth it when they are excited and the photos are awesome. My dd and I do the iron on shirts with glitter and other trims. I took a few and made dresses by sewing a skirt on the bottom of the t-shirts. But that's about as far as I go with customs...lol. We have 2 outfits per day as well so nothing wrong with that.

We were at POR 8/16 to 8/24 but changed to ASmo when DH decided to stay home. We saved money and a new resort for us!

I have to laugh and say HA! don't be fooled. Sewing does NOT mean you save money, more like SPEND more money!

LOL - this is soooo true!

ugh customs....

the list is long, I'm still trying to decide on themes and we have 82 days! nothing like adding pressure.

I am really excited that Princess Pie Boutique will be doing some accessories to match

The problem is I think I have like 2 per day! oye. I haven't thought about anything for me yet, but I think I will make a couple shirts that would match.

Have you started making anything yet Erin? I am so happy that Jen was able to fit you in... She is amazing!

D~

All those decisions...glad you got it finalized for now. Are you still paying OOP for two meals? You might consider paying OOP for CRT. Isn't the tip included with that meal? It might end up being cheaper then paying for two regular meals

Your plans looks great but now that you've added the extra day, will you be doing two days in Epcot?

Can't wait to see all your creations for you and V

I subscribed! I'm a nanny too and took the kids of the last family I worked for to Disney once for spring break. It was my first trip and I've loved it ever since. I keep trying to convince the family I work for now to let me take the boys but we haven't made it yet. Oh well.....I get to go with my own family so I really can't complain!
I'm also a sewer so I can't wait to see what all you make!
I'm off to go read some of your completed TR's!

It definitely is worth it. We did some that were more costumes last year. I am excited for the customs this year!

Maybe we will see you in the parks do any of our days match up?

I like changing for meals, you just feel much fresher! of course this means V has a different outfit for a meal!

D~

We are reusing 1 skirt from last year. I have to order another skirt. My mom has started on 1 dress and it is about 3/4 done, the Irelyn ruffle dress. I haven't actually started anything yet. I have to work on stuff this week, a shirt for V for the Taylor Swift concert this Saturday and then we are doing a small craft show the following Saturday so I need to work on some stuff for that. I don't expect to sell much really, but it is good advertising for our scrapbooking crops since we can advertise at it. After that, it will be V and only V stuff!

All those decisions...glad you got it finalized for now. Are you still paying OOP for two meals? You might consider paying OOP for CRT. Isn't the tip included with that meal? It might end up being cheaper then paying for two regular meals

Yes, by adding another day our last day will be in Epcot, so not a full day, but I'm happier about that.

Wohoo! we have awesome families! Where abouts do you nanny? I know a bunch of nannies in the US in various areas from my nanny group. Completed TR....... uhhhh hmmmmm :headache: :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

I nanny in st louis, missouri. I don't know anybody else who nannies, so I was so excited when I saw your TR! (by the way, I was getting your signature mixed up with someone who had commented on your TR, but I do plan on reading your TR too--I have so many I want to read and then life comes along and I can't get to them all!!:rotfl:)
and I just realized I said I was a "sewer", but that looks like storm sewer and I meant that I sew also--definitely not a sewer!! :lmao: either way, can't wait to see what you've made!
ok, so my own kids are finally asleep and I really am going to do some reading now!

REAL LIFE NEWS: V got her ears pierced this past Saturday. She picked little pink flowers. (Shocking!)
The puppies are growing like beasts. I need to spend more time working with Rogue on training and such. I need to spend a lot more time doing lots of stuff. :rotfl2: Seriously tho, I need to do it and I'm just not doing it. I need to get my but in gear.

This past weekend I went with my mom and 2 of our scrappy friends to a scrapbooking retreat in Michigan. It was SO MUCH FUN!
We left early Friday morning and got to Michigan and headed straight for hobby lobby. After a quick perusal in the scrapbooking section we headed for material and started shopping for stuff for V's customs. I had a notebook with a page for each outfit and list what materials I was thinking and how much I needed. I also had swatches for matching fabrics. Regardless of this, it still took forever!!! We did what we could until our friends were ready to go. I got some other fabrics too that I just liked. some pretty glittery paris fabric and pink damask! We headed to grab lunch at Ruby Tuesday and then Target.
After Target we went to Joann. There wasn't much material on sale, I found a few things that were worth the money. Material in Canada is quite expensive and we really don't have the selection that hobby lobby or joann does. so I picked up a couple things. I was frustrated, not finding what I needed for one of V's customs. We didn't stay too long and then headed off. We arrived an hour late for check in and spent the evening scrapbooking. Well.... I tried, but I could not settle down and get in the mood. I worked on a page I'd already started. I was tired too which was the big problem. Went to bed, woke up and tried a bit more, had breakfast at 9. My mom and I were heading back to hobby lobby and joann that day to shop for material that we needed. We left around 10:30 I think and despite getting delayed by about an hour going in the wrong direction and turning around, we by passed our retreat again at noon and were on our way. We headed to Joann first. We got a little bit of fabric and shopped around. I picked out some glitter fabrics, I thought were on sale and they weren't so I had to pay full price for some and not get others :( We then got felt. The 72 inch bolts of felt were on sale for $2.99 a yard. The regular price at our store is around 10 a meter! We got lots of colors and 1/2-1 yrd cuts of them. My mom uses the felt for lining and I will need some for appliques, but still, we have way more felt than will EVER be needed. Next we drove to a hobby lobby about another 25 minutes away. We did some damage at Hobby Lobby and got lots of ribbons on for half off and I found a turquoise necklace that could work for a pink Cinderella dress.... (foreshadowing?) :rolleyes1
I got a good portion of the fabric I needed for customs from Hobby Lobby at 30% off! I know the quality isn't as good, but the price is right and I actually really preferred the prints to those at Joanns, I felt like there was more I liked at Hobby Lobby, even tho they had a much smaller selection.
It took 25 minutes to get the fabric cut and another 25 minutes, just to check out! I kid you not. We were finally on our way just after 5 and we arrived back at the retreat to our friends relief at 6:10. They were starting to get really worried. We didn't even make it to the last Joann, but I could not believe that it took us that long. If we were just picking stuff we liked it would be fine, but looking for specific things and matching colors takes so much longer.
I tried to scrapbook after dinner.... :rolleyes1 2 of us went in the hot tub for over an hour, it was great, I've only been in a hot tub once before. Got zero scrapbooking done after that. The next morning I finished a page and we packed up around noon and left. made another stop at Joann since there was a new sale and material OF COURSE was now on sale. a lot of it was probably still more expensive with 40% off than Hobby lobby with 30% off, so oh well. I got some stuff (TOO MUCH STUFF) at 40% off. The clearance was 50% off too and I got some sort of knit material for PJ's there for V and me. I bought just over 5 yards of it and it was $6/yard clearance so I only paid $3/yard!!! I also bought like 5 yards of pink fabric with little silver tiara's all over it, it was so cute. And a bunch of other stuff. We had a 50% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket and were about to check out and remembered to check the sewing baskets as we've been wanting one. I'm not sure that we found the actual aisle with the sewing baskets since the ones we did find were with or near the clearance section. We scored 1 of the big ones regularly $45 for $20! AND it's cute! We also got a smaller one for $15 and two super cute pin cushions! score! We walked away happy! My bill was $200 at that store alone, but we got great deals and got most of what we needed.
There are still some things that need to be bought and we'll do it slowly.

Just have to find the time to get started on these customs

lol I say that since I gave up on our 2011 TR! and am VERY slowly plugging away at 2012. Hoping it actually gets finished!

AHHH totally forgot to mention that when I was at the retreat I finally got my D bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited it is so awesome! It's just perfect! and D I didn't comment on the inside fabric it was just PERFECT! (p.s. _ I FINALLY gound out the reason why the bag wasn't delivered! The town is so small that the post office doesn't deliver! you have to pick all your mail up! I had sent her the tracking number and such and that it was USPS, but she didn't clue in apparently.

I also got one of V's customs! I didn't make this dress, but I had it made by another awesome lady and it is beautiful!

Glad you got the bag that that you like it... I do love that fabric - trying to get the placement just perfect for each piece, I wound up using almost every little bit I had.

Yikes about the pkg... That kind of scares me to know that - I would have been devistated if it would have been lost.

I also got one of V's customs! I didn't make this dress, but I had it made by another awesome lady and it is beautiful!

Ooooh - are you going to show us pictures of this and tell us about who made it??? I wanna see...

D~

I will add some pics eventually!
You'll know who it is. It wasNOT a dress I wanted to tackle.

I am working on one of V's customs and it is a Disney "treat" dress. It will have appliques of different Disney treats on it, such as a dole whip, mickey bar etc... I am stuck for a saying for the bodice.

suggestions anyone?

-Sweet on Disney
-Disney is such a treat
-Disney is Sweet

..... ya none are really speaking to me do you have any ideas?

I really love the theme idea... I don't have anything that's popping into my head right away, but I will give it some thought. :)

Thanks D and judy!

I decided on one but I can't remember which one now. The fantabulous Loree made up the design for me.

I have been awa from this PTR far too long. I'm trying to keep on top of things but it has just been so darn busy.

Okay Day 1

Tuesday August 20

We will arrive in Florida a couple days before and stay at my bosses house. The ,orning of the 20h I am hoping that we can leave as early as possible and do the 1.5 hour drive to Disney so that we can arrive at the Poly in plenty of time to either check in early for our 10:55 am reservation for 4 at Ohana or explore the poly a bit. I would really like some time to explore the poly, but v's parents have decided they want to go to Kennedy space centre to see the exhibit there. They will want to get going as quickly as possible which will put a kink in my plans a bit.
The other option is that we get there early enough to check into POR before breakfast. I would be hopeful we could do that, so that v's parents can leave the poly after breakfast when they want and w can explore a bit before heading back to POR for a swim.

Even so I'm not really sure how much time we will have in the afternoon atPOR. If breakfast starts late because they are seating late, then by the time W get to POR we might not have a lot of time to swim. We need to e at Fort Wildernessfor Hoop Dee Doo show at 4pm. Not a lot time between meals but I thought the 615 hoop dee doo would be too late as I really want v in bed at a reasonable time that night. By 8!

I'm not. Sure about 2meals that close together so part of mthinks arriving a the poly ASAP and checking in for breakfast as soon as Possible so hopefully w get seated earlier rather than later may be best to try and get as much time between the 2 meals as possible.

Im not sure what to do any suggestions?

v is super excited about Hoop Dee Doo. She lovedit last year. When I gave he the choice of oop dee doo or the water park. She picked hoop dee doo!

Yay!

Sounds like a busy day for your first day. I want to do Hoop di doo one day.
