Neither DW or I are wine drinkers. I was considering getting the wine pairing for my meal. Does V&A get upset if spouse were to taste the wine servings?

Not in my experience as I have tasted the wine but did not order the pairing. Most of the wine pairings were not to my liking so I'm glad I did not order it but it was fun to taste them. I don't think tasting is a big deal as your not drinking more than what was paid for.

Enjoy!

In our experience, it won't be a problem at all. And, if you like wine (or even think you might like it!), the V&A wine pairings are always well conceived, creative and sometimes even simply amazing!

Enjoy!

Well, I like SOME wines. But am SUPER picky...not an expert...just don't like certain wines. But I did order the wine pairings at V&A. Every single one was GREAT!!! Went PERFECT with the food and tasted awesome.

Now, as I was maybe through the 3rd course and realized that people were leaving more than half a glass to be taken away by the servers, I also realized that I was TANKED!! There is no way to drink the whole serving alone and not be totally wasted. I am sure you could share with DH and have no problems. Most everyone in the restaurant with the exception of myself didn't finish the whole serving anyway!!

I did tell DH that I should slow down, not drink the whole serving. His response was, "I paid for that and you're gonna drink it!!" LOL!! :rotfl2:

Do you wanna know how my night ended? I passed out on the balcony of my BWV!! I took a blankie out there and laid down right on the balcony!! The weather was so beautiful and the view spectacular...but it was pretty funny.DH loves telling this story. And I will be ordering the wine pairing on Nov. 27th at the Chef's table. And I will be drinking the entire serving.:upsidedow

do they pour the full serving at each course? That would be something. Most wine pairings I have had with multiple courses pour smaller servings so that the total wine poured is about the equivalent of three glasses.

Wow, now I'll really have to convince my wife to find a sitter for the kids so we can go to V&A.

Wine pairings that I have done before DO pour a rather small serving. But these were HUGE. Not a full glass but a pretty decent pour nonetheless. Like I said, hardly ANYONE was finishing a glass...well, except me it seemed!!

Last trip, DH and I took DS28/his wife and DS26/his girlfriend to V&A. All of us did the wine pairing. DH and I, being V&A veterans, knew not to drink all of it but only did half of each glass (we each had a cocktail before dining). Well, the kids drank it all and they were sloshed. The sad/funny thing was that we had reservations for parasailing the next morning. The two young ladies were totally "green" after the bus ride to the Contemporary and had to skip their parasailing adventure. So I would say enjoy the wine but remember to pace yourself. The desserts at V&A are amazing and it would be a shame not to remember them!!!!

We'll be at V&A's on Monday night and all four in our party plan to get the pairings...but then again, we're all professionals when it comes alcohol consumption :rotfl:

Ummm... us too. I'm ashamed to say that I've managed to drink the full serving of the wine pairings and not be sloshed. Practice, I guess....;)

I'm not so ashamed to say that I've had no problem polishing off the wine-pairings without being sloshed, although my DW was not so lucky (so I enjoyed some of hers as well)...

As an aside, the server was great and made it quite clear that if there were any of the wines that we really cared for he could always "find" us some more without any problem (and we did take him up on that :) )
