HI

Will we like V&A? That is if we're a meat & potatoes kinda family?

Our ideal meal of course is Creole southern food :woohoo: , like grilled red snapper w/crabmeat and shrimp etouffee, and marinated crabclaws. Can they fix that?

See, I've only seen pictures of what looked like uncooked / raw food (like tuna)....I guess I'm used to my tuna being in a can.

Can anyone tell me if they've ever been and actually had real food?

We're on the platinum pkg & I'm thinking about ADR's, we're past our 180 days but our AAA travel agent is making alot of our arrangements for us.
I want to go, but the DH will be the one to sell, so help me sell him :listen: , please...............didn't want to go that far away from home & not say that we hadn't eaten there and it's included in our package :teeth: .

The menu is what the menu is. If you don't think you are going to like it, don't go there. We grew up on meat and potatoes, but have expanded our tastes to enjoy and appreciate many many types of cooking..otherwise you are just missing out.

If you are on the platinum pkg, I am guessing your meals are already included..so go and enjoy. You will have had so much food, you probably won't even be hungry anyway.

It's really an experience and you should try it, especially if it's included in your package. The portions are small but there are so many courses I was absolutely stuffed afterward. For our entree, DH ordered the Kobe beef and I ordered the prime Angus beef -- both excellent and the portions were larger than I had expected. Someone called our house about 2 weeks before our reservation date to ask about our food preferences and allergies. You might want to check out some of the menus on Allears.net to get an idea of the selections offered.

Don't forget that your husband will need to wear a jacket. V & A's is great, give it a try and be open to trying new dishes. I'm sure you'll find something on the menu you'd like. :3dglasses

It is an amazing experience. We are like you guys with our love of m and p. However, Victoria and Albert's was such an amazing, and tasty experience! I enjoyed foods and combinations of foods that I never dreamed I would enjoy. The presentation is lovely, and the flavors were noteworthy. I am not a foodie, but I think after this experience I could probably get into food! I would go for sure if it is in your package. Tell your husband that he needs to try something different, and I promise you will not be sorry you did so. BTW, for my dinner I had steak and potatoes.... so good!

 Thank you all for your suggestions..............

We do eat more than meat & potatoes it's just that, being from the south we do eat alot more of it than any other type foods :rotfl: :rotfl2: "I do like them angus". Our absolute favorite restaurant here locally but can't really go that often is called "Ernest Orleans" - It's an exclusive cajun/creole style restaurant w/other items but (Pricey, yes mam) ::yes:: ! we love Tex-Mex, cajun/creole, Italian but I had "never" ever heard the term "foie gras" or "abalone" until I started reading the DIS Boards. Ya'll have educated me ! :cheer2:

Lordy, I've been deprived & sheltered (good ole' country girl)...........but....I think I can dig up a coat maybe a tux for DH to wear if I can get him to go :confused3 .

Again, thank you very much :goodvibes

when I read your post. ;) My husband and I have often talked about whether or not taking my parents or his father to V & A's would be a good experience for them (and us).

We loved our visit there and we also love Emeril's restaurants and course menu offerings. We look for restaurants at home that offer a variety of food experiences.

My "meat and potatoes" parents would try anything once, but my father is often one to comment, "I like a little less food art and more food." My FIL, he is more foodie, but he also is very picky about what he will eat and is not a bit shy about complaining.

If you have the opportunity to go on the platinum plan and V & A's is included, I would say go for the experience - don't miss it! You can always order room service if you didn't get enough to eat later.

I'm the adventure eater in the family while the rest are sadly limited to beef and potatoes. They'll try chicken, but anything that comes out of the water, forget it. :sad2: I'll probably never get to try V&A. It just wouldn't be worth the money.

I would LOVE to try V&A's, but BF absolutly, positivly refuses to eat "girly" food :confused3 or to bring a coat and tie with us. ("It's Disney World. I'm going to wear shorts and hawaiian shirts :scared1: ). I hope he is kidding. Maybe I should just make reservations and drag him along (I'm sure I will have to pack for him anyway...) or go alone. :rolleyes1

Anyway, I say try it, especially if it's included in your package. If you don't like it at least you don't have to cringe at the bill!

The menu almost always includes a filet of some sort--so you'll have your meat. Potatoes and crab-claws may be another matter--.
But if it is included in your package, you should give it a try.

The first time we went to V&A's, we were very nervous about liking the 'fancy food' on the menu, especially since we took our kids. Mind you, we eat out at nice restaurants, and my kids are not strangers to fine dining, but V&A is quite a 'step above' most restaruants. Well, everyone loved it! We have crossed over and are now 'foodies'. It's hard to explain to someone just how exceptional Victoria & Albert's is. You just have to experience it for yourself. We'll be going back on Christmas Eve! :)

 hi folks !

It's me again !

I bit the bullet, I left my ADR's w/Jeffrey the IPO @ WL (I filled out our request) & :woohoo: added Victoria & Alberts to it ! :rotfl2:

MY DH ::cop: has "NO" clue................. :ssst: I'll just make sure I pack enough stuff or just another shirt, cause he's dressing for Fulton's on the night of our anniversary.

I can't wait to wear my evening/party dress I purchased for a cruise & never got to wear it. "funny story" they sold the cruise ship............. :sail:

thanks for all of ya'lls help ! ! maybe he'll get some "cooked meat" huh? and your right, if he doesn't like it & is still hungry :stir: popcorn:: , we can go get something else to eat w/our fancy dud's on !

Gave a great day !

 Hi ya'll !! we are from up here in North west Louisiana :thumbsup2 , we live about 16 miles se of Shreveport.

I think DS went to play at a District Football game in Gonzales about 2 yrs ago. We are 4 AAAA in football, he goes to "Haughton High School" but we got beat & they come home. So they didn't do any site seeing that night.

We are practically neighbors didn't you know that? by about 5 or 6 hours...... :hourglass huh?????

Baton Rouge was almost our home last summer..........or at least that's what we thought :lmao: ..as many times as we took our son to LSU

I think he's decided against LSU, now that 3 yrs of high school has passed & we've put all of those miles on my car.............that's OK at least he's going ::yes::

Anyway...............I talked the DH into going to V&A's ............... :cool1: can we do the happy dance or what, can I get an AMEN :thumbsup2 !!!!

Have a GREAT evening :wave2:

I've eaten at V&A on several occasions.
Generally, the first appetizer is a choice between a fish and a meet. I had smoked buffalo for that choice.
The second appetizer is a choice of different poultries.
The third is a choice of different seafoods.
The entree gives you 4 different selections, usually beef sometimes other things. On my most recent trip, I had elk.
Then the menu has you select between a geleto or a plate of cheeses.
Then with the desserts everyone will be able to find something they want.

I'm a picky eater, always have been. Typically when I go, the only course where I can't find something I know I will like is the seafood appetizer. You will enjoy the experience. If they have the elk or buffalo when you go definately try it. Its like beef but much more tender and less fatty.

Its an amazing experience. They've changed it in the past years...before they used to have you be waited on by Victoria and Albert...now they use the servers real names.

 hi ya'll

yearbook, thanks a more simplified way t :artist: o put it, and it works !

I'll try & explain that to Jim (DH); he's all for it now, he did ask about that tie, but I told him, no that I've read that you do have to wear a Jacket and he said he could do that.

I'm just getting excited  about this trip, thank you for your input, you were such a big help to me. I'm ready to do the happy dance .....

Have a great day !
