V&A Chef's Table

Wow, great pictures and great review. I gotta say, I always thought the Chef's table sounded overpriced. After seeing what you got, it seems like its a bargain. I suppose I'm a bit sheltered, but I've got to wonder how many places in the world you can experience a dinner like that. I'm guessing not too many.

PS, Mister Disney, I gotta say, I've seen your signature photo and always thought you two looked like a pair of Eastern European Olympic wrestlers. Must be the tank tops. (I think that was a compliment).

When we were at V & A's last Dec., we witnessed a wonderful moment. A guest at another table overheard a man and his wife discussing his military service and being home on leave. The guest paid for the serviceman and his wife's meal! He left before the young couple knew what he had done. The maitre d' said he just wanted to thank him in a small way for serving our country.

Glad to know that there are still some wonderful people around in this world! Does my heart good~

Thanks for all the photos! What a great review. The food looked unbelievable. I would have had to be rolled out in a giant wheelbarrow!

I don't think my 5 year old triplets would appreciate the Chef's table, although they might have fought you for the mac-n-cheese! Maybe one day when we go by ourselves, I'll have to try it!

Glad you both had such a good time.

Triplefigs, I know it might add some costs, but you might want to try booking them with one of Disney's fairygodmothers or whatever they are called. It is SOOOOO worth it...plus one night away from triplets might be a good thing. :earboy2:

Side note.....

We've got res. for V&A (dining room only) for Wednesday, June 1st. Anyone else going to be there that would like to join us for dinner? We're not celebrating anything special....just love V&A and would love to meet others into fine dining while we're there for this trip. (June 1 - 6)

I do have a question- I am curious as to what OTHER restaurants the CM (sous chef I believe?) recommended to you. Their opinions hold high esteem with me!
Thanks!

Lulu - Sorry I forgot to post my response to your question.

Aimee the chef at V&A suggested that we try the sushi at California Grill. She specifically said to ask to be seated at the "Sushi Counter". They do not take PS for the Sushi counter, so the day after V&A Chef's Table we went to the CG. They told us that the wait would be an hour for the Sushi Counter, but shorter for what they call the "Chef's Counter". Turns out the Sushi Counter seats 4 and the Chef's Counter only 2.

We took our little buzzer thing they give you and went upstairs. We got a drink and explored CG. We've never been there before. We ended up outside and watched the fireworks from the balcony there. It was AMAZING. By the time the fireworks were done, the 2 seats at the Chef's Counter were available.

We had Sushi, Sashimi and what they call "Snake in the Grass"

The experience was great. I love watching and interacting with the Chef's at restaurants.

I must say though I was a little disappointed in the Sashimi. We love Sushi and Sashimi and have eaten at many great places, including Morimoto's in Philly etc. I think what the problem with the meal was the lack of variety they have. They only offer like 5 different kinds of fish, as opposed to a restaurant that specializes in Sushi / Sashimi might have 10 - 12 different varietys of seafood.

I will have to rant and rave about the "Snake in the Grass" they offer. IT WAS DELICIOUS!

"Snake in the Grass" starts with Shrimp Tempora which then has eel laid on it and it is wrapped in the rice, just like most "rolls". After that, thin slices of avocado and more eel are layered on top. Finally, eel sauce is drizzled over the entire thing. Shrimp tails hang out the end of the roll to form the "tail" of the snake and I think it was chives form the front. If for nothing else, I would go back to CG just to eat this again!

Below is their collection of Sushi we had

Furthermore, Aimee suggested based on our likes and tastes to try the Yatchman's Steakhouse. We're scheduled for that in June and we'll bring back a full report for all you other food-philes out there!

I'll be there on June 2. My momma and her partner will be there as will my Uncle Mike (CheshireFigment). We've got the Chef's Table that night! :-) But mebbe I'll see ya'll around...just look for the red shirt that says "I (heart) my 2 Mommies!"

My parter, Mary, and I have the chef's table reservation for June 2nd. Actually, the reservation is in the name of my best friend, CheshireFigment; my daughter, Brightsy, will be joining us.

Mary and I will be in red shirts, of course (but not at V&A, obviously); we'll be staying at Shades of Green. I'm retired military and Mary is a 100% disabled veteran, so either of us is eligible to stay there on her own.

This will be my second visit to WDW and Mary's third; we were both there in November, and she was there in the 1980s with her folks. We ate at V&A's in Nov. with Mike (CheshireFigment), but not at the chef's table.

I just realized thagt we can't wear red shirts that evening; we're going to be at V&A that evening.

Yes I just spoke to Mike....via PM.

Why can't you wear RED? They make nice dresses and things in red, just like shirts. We'll be wearing red the night before at V&A (well, at least a tie....and undies.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ) and to Jikos the night that we'll be meeting you, we'll have some nice dress red shirts.

OK ,ok....this has now gone WAY off topic.... :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

A bit OT yes. :-)
Anyways, *I* will be wearing shades of red and pink w/ touches of sparkle...:-) I'm so looking forward to all this. It's not just the food. I haven't had a chance to TRULY gussy myself up in YEARS!!! I'm gonna dress to the nines! I just hope I can find comfy shoes that will look good with the dress...*sigh*

[Michelle again]

I just do not look good in Red/, so I do not own anything other than a tee-shirt in that color. I'll most likely be in Purple[/COLOR=Purple]. I wore a wonderful hand-made dress in that color for Mary's and my committment ceremony (and had my hair dyed to match),but it's more suitable to a Renn Faire or Fantasy Land than for V&A.

Cplofdisnuts-Heehee...I showed my DH the thread with all the food pics on it...and I TOLD HIM to expect me to be taking pics of our dinners next time we go to WDW...he just rolled his eyes and said, "Whatever!" LOL!
