I currently have 2 contracts (August UY) at the same resort. I'm looking at adding a small contract with a different UY (September) same resort. What are the downsides? We will probably use at both Dis and trade out, so how would that work?

Just looking to think this through so that I don't do something that has unknown limitations. Thanks, all! :goodvibes

For "trades" through II, you would have to transfer from one contract to another, unless you have enough points in a single contract for your trades. You will have a separate membership number for any points not in the same use year.

To book at your home resort, if you have a night requiring 30 points, and you have 15 points in one use year contract and 15 points n another use year contract, they can't be combined for that night, you'd have to transfer from one contract to another...and you are limited to one transfer per use year.

You also would have different banking windows.

If you are adding at the same resort, anyway, I'd try to stick to the same use year and if buying resale, ask that DVC add the contract to an existing membership number so the points can be used together easily, without the need for the internal transfers.

Thanks for the response, Chuck! Really appreciate the info. Sounds like same UY at the same resort is just less complicated overall.

We have four contracts with Sept UY and one with Dec UY. The Dec UY is a small add-on that we bought through the TTS several years ago. It's the toughest to use, but we manage each year by transferring in or out. We were able to use it up for 07 because my husband wanted to go to the marathon in Jan, so we were able to get him a studio at OKW for four nights. And we really do have to watch the banking deadlines. I'm not about to lose points.
