I just can not understand this, can someone please help me, I'm sorry. Our contract has 68 "2015" points banked into "2016". All "2016" points and all "2017" points. We have a June UY. The banked points from 2015 need to be used for a trip anytime within 2016 or for a trip before June 2016? Thanks so much

The June 2015 points that were banked into June 2016 need to be used for a reservation with a check-out date on or before 6/1/2017.

Edit to add: Changed checkout date to 6/1. Points are per night, so a multi-night stay is technically calculated as a series of 1 night stays. If you check-out on 6/1, the points for that night were based on the check-in date of 5/31 which falls in the prior UY.

Right. To put it simply, your "2015 Use Year" means EXACTLY: June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. Once they're banked to your 2016 use year, they can't be used in the "2015 use year" any more and can now be used ONLY for June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017, which is your "2016 Use Year".

It took me a little while to get the hang of it but it's pretty simple once you understand the terminology.

June:

2015 UY = 6/1/15 thru 5/31/16
2016 UY = 6/1/16 thru 5/31/17
2017 UY = 6/1/17 thru 5/31/18
etc...

Think of it this way, your UY calendar starts in June, not January. During the first 8 months of your UY you can bank "move" the points into the next UY. Onced moved, they are stuck there and can't be banked again. Since June isn't here yet, you are in your 2015 UY.

I find it helps to focus on when my trip will be and then figure out which year's points are involved, for example: say you want to celebrate your new DVC purchase with a trip to WDW in March 2017.
March 2017 is in your 2016 use year so to make that reservation you would use those 2015 points banked into your 2016 use year and your 2016 points. If you had some extra 2016 points leftover and didn't plan to return to WDW before 6/1/2017, then you would want to bank those leftover 2016 points into 2017 (before 2/1/2017.)
But let's say instead that the March 2017 reservation required more points than your banked 2015 and all your 2016 points - in that case you can borrow points from your 2017 use year to complete the reservation.
