UV Umbrellas: Ever use at Disney during summer?

has anyone ever used a UV umbrella at disney in summer?

i've got a small folding one from Coolibar.com that i use at state fairs, down the shore and at (unshaded) festivals, but haven't used at disney....

ever see someone using one at disney?

There are people (not many) who use umbrellas to shield themselves from the sun.

Just use caution since a lot of people will not be expecting to encounter an umbrella while they are walking through a crowd.

Umbrellas are discouraged at WDW because the points invariably end up in someone's face in a crowd. At times you will even be asked to put it away. A UV hat in conjunction with a UV shirt is better. Leaves your hands free as well. You can google UV shirts, they're worn by skin cancer patients.

I use one because I have a super sensitive scalp and thin hair.I can not wear hats because they hurt my scalp.I also can't use many hair products or put sunscreen on my head or it gets all red and inflammed.I have never been asked to put it away but I don't use it during parades.I use it when I feel like I need to -during a long walk when I can't get into the shade and I used it alot at animal kingdom.Also walking around the countries at epcot.It rains so much during the summer I don't think anyone even looked twice at me for having one.I use a travel size sunbrella from totes that looks like a regular rain umbrella.I will be using it in 13 days again!!

This sounds odd since they sell mickey umbrellas at all of the parks. We have several. But they will not let you use them at any of the outdoor shows. We were waiting for fantasmic last year when it started to rain and they kept making announcments that you could not use them in your seats. You could however go to the back of the stadium and use them. As far as walking around the parks I dont see a problem since they sell them. Hope this helps op. Have fun.

I have never heard of this. The only times I've ever seen anyone been asked to put an umbrella away was when they were blocking someone else's view of a show in the American Garden's Theatre (it wasn't even raining at the time but that's another post).

The only place I have ever heard that umbrellas are not permitted at all is at a NASCAR race.

I don't remember ever seeing anyone with an umbrella walking around. It seems like it would be hard to navigate through crowded places (AK) carrying one.
