USPS Lost Tax Refund ?

Actually first class can take 2 to 9 days, on average it takes 2 to 5 days if it's going from large city to large city.

The USPS is the largest user of cargo space on passanger airlines. Outside of major cities it could be transported by ground till it reaches your city.

As much as people want to complain, the post office isn't losing money by postage, it's the government dipping thier hands into it all. Since the post office is part of the government, they're not allowed to make a profit. That's why retirement and pension plans were so great. Greedy idiots saw the money and decided to use it for themselves, and take that money away from the post office. Now the post office has to come up with ways to pay out those retirement benefits and current wages.

It's robbing from the left to pay the right hand. People don't always realize it's part of the government. People would pitch a fit if they raised taxes, but most people dont care about postage going up.

Since they say it was mailed on the 16th, I would actually assume it went out on the Monday following that. They might consider it "mailed" if it goes into a bunch of envelopes that WILL be picked up...if it goes into that bunch later on in the day, it's possible it won't leave until Sat or beyond. Not that I know what goes on with the IRS, but it makes sense to me.

Not having a bank account...sometimes "they" just won't let you. I had a friend while working at amazon who absolutely could not get an account, thanks to one or two bounced checks from years before. They had been reported to that company whose name I can't remember, and she couldn't convince the banks to let her have an account. I *hope* that the years since I talked to her have allowed her to open an account, because it was a huge pain for her. everyone else got direct deposit, and she had to wait for the paper check, go somewhere to cash it, etc etc, all because of a problem she hadn't even meant to create, years before. (it's not like she was a criminal doing it on purpose; she just messed up)

Sort of OT. We deal with a large company that routinely has to send large! checks. We called to ask about EFT and the secretary said they didn't even have email. God forbid if they used a computer :scared1: so EFT was out of the question. Their engineering changes are made in pencil on blueprints. We asked them to start sending checks FedEx.
We hardly ever deal with checks anymore for payments or receipts.

Before everyone goes blaming the USPS  be aware that MANY people have been saying (in person and around the internet) that the IRS refund site has been less than accurate this year-often the refunds haven't been deposited/mailed until later than the IRS site said it would.

So it probably hasn't been mailed yet. The IRS also only mails them out once a week.
