My family and I are heading down to Orlando the Fourth of July. We are staying from that Thursday until Sunday. Is going to Universal and Islands during that time a good idea? Do the parks do anything special for the Fourth? Also which day would be best to go? I see that there is a Summer Concert Series show that Saturday, the 6th. I figured if we go that day we could just pop back over to IOA during the concert as we probably won't be too interested in seeing it. (IOA closes at 9, USO at 10. Not sure what time the concert starts so I don't know if that idea is actually realistic. )

I agree with macraven...That is a VERY busy time frame for Universal and Orlando themeparks in general. If you are going to attempt it, I would try to stay onsite

July in Orlando...very hot...very humid...very crowded...daily afternoon thunderstorms.

I stay for 9 days every 4th of July week. I will tell you it's very hot (we live in Florida too), very crowded, and would not do it without staying onsite. We visit the parks in the am then head back to one of the hotels for pool time and lunch. Around 3-4 we head back to our room to relax and shower up. Then head out to Citywalk for dinner. After dinner head to the parks for fun. We avoid the heat and some of the crowd. But with crowd the express pass at that time of day is normally walk on.

I'm going as well in July but later (The week of the 15th) I truly do hate going this time of year. I also live in Florida. Unfortunately due to kids activities and school, etc. The first half of July was our only option. Although I'm sure the week of the 4th will be even more packed so we opted for the following week. Last year we went the week of May 14th and it was wonderful. Park was half empty, it was warm but not muggy and got on-site hotel for about $120 per night. Only down side is spring showers but that didn't stop us lol.

I also had a question about the Cinematic Spectacular. Last year we saw it after park closing at Universal Studios. The kids weren't with us then. They are this time and I want them to see it but I can't seem to find a schedule of what days they are doing it this summer. Anyone know where to get the info for July?

I think once the Summer Concert Series performers are all lined up, they'll announce the schedule.

Any place and every place will be packed that week though, whether its any theme park, the beach, you name it. Just goes with that week
