Using your iPhone abroad?

Ok so i am hoping to take my iPhone over with me when we go over in May is it simple to just log on to the Free wireless without any charges?

Do i need to do anything so my phone will work out there?

Any information about using the iPhone abroad would be great

Make sure you turn data roaming off or you could be faced with some huge bills when you come home!!

You can also now get the iphone unlocked and buy a sim card in the US for calls - check out http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/unlockmyiphone.html

You can still use your UK sim for free WI-FI areas in the US

Well i emailed The Enclave Suites and they emailed me back saying it was all free? Hard Rock hotel has free connection in the lobby and by the pool so i read? Also i have a list of all Free wireless hotspots around idrive.

Couldn't see it on their own site so looked at Hotels.com so they could be wrong but this is what it says. Its one thing I wish every hotel site put on their homepage. I spend hours looking for internet access info and then its not accurate half the time. I won't book anywhere offsite without free internet inroom.

Well thats clear enough, like you say take a copy with you and you will be OK. They can't say its free then charge.

One more thing, on the O2 and Orange site, it mentions ringning them to make sure your phone is set to roam for international networks etc. When I rang them last year before I went, the guy said not to worry about having to do this. When i went a few months later it worked totally fine, so no need to contatct them,

HRH is pay cable internet in the room but free in the lobby.

I would love to find a good option for PAYG with data. Would be a chance to use eticket in the parks

Oooh good thread! will have to check out the wi-fi possibilities for my trip then, and yes would be very nice to use some of the wdw apps while in wdw, like e-ticket and lines

Wi-Fi is complimentary in the hotel lobby, by the Kitchen restaurant, by the pool and in the Velvet Lounge. If you should wish to access the wi-fi in your room it will be a charge of $9.95. The service will carry over until 1pm the following afternoon.

Thats not good, only til 1pm, I expected it being for 24 hours like Disney. There we can start it at say 8pm and it runs til 8pm following evening.
Hope RPR is good, costing us £100/night + $10 internet + $15? parking

It's definately free in the HRH lobby as we used it a lot.
