Using Walgreens GC to Buy another GC???

OK, I know I was here before and read something about using a Walgreens Gift card to BUY another gift card at the walgreens store...

I have enough Mypoints to get a nice Walgreens $50 Gift card...The Paypal and Visa gift card/money is way more!

Can I use my $50 Walgreens gift card to buy a Disney gift card AT walgreens??? Do some walgreens accept this and others are questionable??? Or can it be done everywhere?

I have used $50 My Point Walgreens gift cards to buy $50 Disney gift cards at Walgreens 3 or 4 times myself. Never had a problem. I don't go in and ask if it can be done, I just get it along with any other items I may need and when it comes time to pay, I just say I would first like to use a Walgreens gift card, I swipe it, and then use another form of payment to pay whats left.

It's just a form of payment to them. Not sure if they would question it if the Disney GC was the only purchase.

I have also done what tkitty has done and haven't had a problem. In fact I have a MPwalgreens card in my purse to use this week.

I had not ever thought of this. Do all Walgreens sell disney gift cards? Can the gift cards be used at restaurants?

I have 3 Walgreens near me.

None of them will allow you to use a Walgreens Gift card to buy another gift card if that is the only thing you are buying. They put up signs early last year about it.

I don't know if it works if you are buying a bunch of other items and a Disney Gift card too.

Works for me. I've done it several times as well. I did ask the first time and the cashier said "Well, let's see if it works!" and when it did there was no questioning it.

As far as using these GCs at restaurants - yes, you can. I even used it at non-Disney restaurants (TRex Cafe). TRex said that they also have the Disney system if you ask to use the Disney gift cards there. That was in 2009 I think...

Yy Walgreens does not allow you to purchase a gift card with a gift card, so I find a cheap pack of gum and then checkout.

OK, thanks! i never thought of doing 'regular shopping' and just adding a gift card into the mix! That is a great idea, because I actually shop there on occasion anyways (especially if there are great deals w/ coupons!!!)
Most would think of doing it that way anyways...I guess I'm a little slow this week. hahahaha. Thank you again for the suggestions!

My Walgreens will only allow you to use cash for any gift card purchase. They won't even allow you to use a debit card.

I'm not sure about Walgreens but I just used a TRU GC to purchase a Chili's GC and an I-Tunes GC.
