Using tickets before FP+ days question

I always buy 6 day hoppers and then we add days if needed. We are leaving a day early now and "might" take 2 days to get there. Or we will get in a day earlier than planned. We have 2 nights before our tickets w/ our package starts. I know we can get our tickets early, but if we use a day of our 6 day tickets on a day we don't have FP+ booked what will happen to all of our fast passes. We would obviously have to add a day to our tickets. Should I do that 1st? We bought our tickets after the price increase this yr since it was so early. Fay suggestions? I just don't want to risk loosing A & E fast passes. My 7 yr old would not be happy! Thank you!

Add the additional day(s) before you go into the park to avoid losing the FP+ selections for the last day(s).

Since the tickets are tied to our package where can I add the days? Can I do it at the resort, or do I need to go to guest relations outside the park where I'd have to go to pick them early anyways?
