Agreed.. I support their decision to not roll it into the dues but god it's still painfulThey announced Poly tower last year right after VGF sales began. So, this seems to be just the same play...add give more info at a strategic time to add to the conversation when selling direct.
And the TOT isn’t something they really had much say in…and it seems like it made more sense logically to not roll it into dues.

According to the chart I saw, for a one bedroom in the summer, the tax would be about $835 for a week.About how much would taxes be for a week stay in a one bedroom at the California place?

That is an absolutely crazy number.

It's insane to me. I'm a soon-to-be resale owner and don't have the opportunity to stay there but wouldn't even if I could.According to the chart I saw, for a one bedroom in the summer, the tax would be about $835 for a week.

Sounds desperate. The way things are going it is quite possible they will be selling RIV, VGF2, VDH, PVB2, cabins at FW and Aulani direct at the same time. That’s unheard of.
I don't think the conversion of cabins to DVC was a distraction from the VDH info, however I do think the TIMING of the announcement was strategic to balance the negativity regarding the VDH. I can imagine they've been sitting on the news about the cabins until x date, but when the VDH news received such an uproar, that date got pushed up to "Let's announce tomorrow." That seems more likely than it being planned the way it actually happened. Spin control.Does anyone else think that Disney may be using the announcement of DVC at the Fort to distract from the cost, sky high taxes and parking at the VDH?
Sounds desperate.
While they can’t control the fact that the tax exists, the application to VDH is much different than VGC, and seems to be 6 times more. Other than the fact that one is in the annual dues and one isn’t, what is driving that big difference? No - one WDW announcement - One DL announcement, I don't think they care about the negative few on the internet. They can't control the tax and VDH will still sell.
