Using the Dining Plan on day of check in

I am doing a split stay where im at one hotel sunday night and monday night and then another hotel starting tuesday night. I have the dining plan on the 2nd hotel reservation. Will i be able to use credits for tuesday breakfast since that is check in day?
 
We have been able to do that on our past trips. We always get to the resort super eaarly and check in and head out for breakfast.
 
You have to check into your second resort hotel before your dining points become active for your second stay. But technically you can check in as early as 4:00 am, even though your room will probably not be ready by then.

So i need to go to the new hotel before going to the park? I am planning on having a PPO at epcot on that first day of the dining plan so i just want to make sure i can use it.

No, you don't need to actually go to the new hotel as long as you've checked in online. Since you'll already have a magic band and a linked credit card from your first stay, all you need to do is complete an online check in, and you are ready to go!

That is great news! i was getting worried about how this was going to work. Especially because i want to use the DDP snack credits at the food and wine festival that day
 
I don't know since you will be in a hotel before, but we think we either had to go to check in or get a room ready text. We arrived, and had two rooms. My dad got a text saying his room was ready, I did not. We went to lunch, without going to the resort. When they scanned his band, it worked, when they scanned mine, it didn't. The manager said she would call the resort and get it all worked out, which she did, so not sure if there was another issue or if it had to do with us not officially having a room yet. The reservations were all made together, same credit card, both with online check in.

In the future, we will go to the front desk if we don't get a room ready text to be safe. Although, in your case where it may interfere with park time, I'm not sure what I would do. If it works into your schedule I would, if not I'd just chance it. I'm sure they can always take care of it, even if you would have to pay, then they credit it back after talking to someone.
 
We were planning something similar on our last trip, and we were told we had to physically go to the hotel to check in in order for magic bands to work, online check in was not the same. I talked to several people who'd gone as well as Disney employees and was told this by everyone. The only solution we could come up with (because we wanted to make rope drop that day and buses don't go from resort to resort) was for me to get up really early, take a cab from hotel A to hotel B, check us in, head back to Hotel A, pick up family, check out, head to parks. It was just too much hassle for us so we ended up changing our plans around. It would be nice if online check in would work in place of going to the resort, but last I knew this was not the case. Hopefully it's changed!
 
Just wanted to add that I think adding the dining plan may be why you have to check in in person. If you were just using them for park tickets, I don't think there would be the issue but Dining makes it a whole new package. I believe and that's why the new check in is required, at least that was my understanding.

You can online checkin with the dining plan. You actually don't know if your getting online checkin until about the week before you arrive when the email comes over that congrats, you don't need to stop at the front desk. Make sure you have a pin code, mobile phone for txt messages and credit card on your MDE. If any of them are missing, that's why you need to stop at the front desk.

If your going online checkin and you do not have your room yet. you can have the resort or any guest relations activate your tickets and meal plan. I've heard this might just happen on check in day now by default but I can't confirm that. Find out prior to eating to ensure it's ready to use. If you do have your room number, then everything in your package is active. having the room number is when your officially checke din.
