Using the DDP on Check Out Day

I was reading on the DVC forums about several instances where guests have had problems using their DDP on the day they check out.

Anyone else have this problem and if you did where were you staying?

No, no problem at all for us, although I have heard a few anectdotal situations where there were problems. However, I've heard those stories in the middle of visits as well.

It's good until midnight the day you check out. After we checked out in May, we made an Earl of Sandwich run. We ate lunch, and then got three more sandwiches, a bunch of cookies, and a bunch of water with unused CS and snack credits. No problems whatsoever.

Last month we checked out, used 2 snack credits at the Main Street Bakery. 2 TS credits at LTT and 4 more snack credit between MK and All Star Sports before we got on the ME bus that afternoon. No problems at all.

No problem. My memory is the guests with the problems were continuing their WDW stay on a room only basis and the CM closed their package reservation when they opened the room only reservation.

We had no problems in May....and used up all our remaining credits to get food to take to the airport.

I was on the Premium plan and had problems but only it was only past 6:00 pm or so that were the problems. The earlier part of the day wasn't a problem at all for any of the items, card worked just fine.

I was also one doing a room only, package, room only deal and it was dinner we had trouble with plus trying to get the last of our credits in the food court. We did our check-out & room only check-in before our 8:00 AM ADR breakfast, so we were long out of the system while it was still working at lunchtime.

Dinner wasn't that big of a deal as it just took longer because the manager had to call over to the hotel to verify we still had credits left. However, the food court IN the hotel late at night there was no manager to be found to call the hotel to verify we had credits left. :rotfl: (the CM TRIED calling but to no avail -- I just find it humorous that I was IN the hotel we were staying at and the food court couldn't contact whoever it was they needed to there -- yet at MK it was able to be taken care of.)

We had no problem using ours on our check out date. We had saved our TS from our first night to use for Donald's Breafastosaurus on check out day. We also used our remaining CS and snack credits.

hmmmmmm.........now you've got me worried. We're checking out of Pop(package) and into the Beach Club(room only) next week and I planned on using TS credits on check-out/check-in day at CM, but not until 8:30pm.That was the earliest time I could get. Should I mention it when I check into the Beach Club...or call Chef Mickey's. I really don't want to have to deal with the problem after dinner.

We didn't have a huge problem, however, on check-out day we had lunch at Le Cellier to use the last of our TS credits-no problem at all.

About 2PM I tried to buy rice krispy treats from the store at the Boardwalk & they had so much trouble putting it through & couldn't figure out why. The manager was called over & when he say the dates on the card he said it was because we had already checked out. He said we still had the credits but that occasionally they run into a problem with the snack credits after check-out. Not sure if that is true or if they were having a problem of some other sort, but that's what he told me.

Honestly, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I would just let the server know that a manager might need to deal with it because you have already checked out but you know you have credits available that there might be a problem, etc...

They just have to call over to Pop to verify -- at least that is what I was told when we were at Tony's. That the manager had to call the hotel and talk to someone over there. I'm assuming someone who could access the account via computer and say Yes, they still have X credits left. They would be calling the hotel you had the package on.

I didn't really deal with it directly. Our waitress came out and apologized for it taking so long and that there was a problem with the card but the manager was working on it (I didn't think it was taking that long, so I was a bit :confused3 when she said that but then the lightbulb went off and I figured it was because of the time & credits). Less than 5 minutes after she said that, she brought out the bill, told us that everything was fine and that it was because it was showing up 0 credits and the manager had to call over to the hotel (because it said 0 credits on our receipt, even though we had some left, she was explaining that even though it says 0 credits we did still have some -- probably so I wouldn't start complaining that the receipt wasn't correct).

I think with it being a sit-down it won't be that big of a deal as you aren't holding up any check-out line and the manager deals with it in a back room. We were just having the kids finishing up their desserts & whatnot while waiting. You could always ask for your bill a bit earlier, have them take the card and then it won't seem like it took any longer than normal since it will all be done behind the scenes.

Now, I knew the problem beforehand when I went to the food court (since this was after Tony's), told the CM there probably was a glitch and she just said "Let me swipe it anyway" -- of course, it said 0 credits and well....I held up the entire line for a while (sorry everyone -- wasn't my fault! I TRIED to warn her we would need a manager before even ringing it up). In the end she talked to someone who just told her to let it go through and they would deal with it later (so I wouldn't suggest doing it at 11:30 pm or so! I was *just* trying to get those last few credits taken care of, silly me!)

No problem at the BCV. Picked up sandwiches for the plane at the Marketplace around noon.

We did not have a problem with this at the BWV - we checked into a studio without the plan after a stay in a one bedroom with the plan and used TS credits and snack credits on check-out day.

I actually was hurrying to get my last mickey bar at 11:45 p.m.! But I made it and had no problems. We actually didn't use most of our snacks either and went to DTD and stocked up - we got 6 items at once and used the last 2 at the last minute!

We had two back to back reservations at OKW with the dining plan and we had no problems on the day we switched over - but I would suggest you mark the cards in some way to ensure that you are handing the server the ddp room key card and not your room only no ddp room card (because they both look the same except for the dates and I can never keep dates straight when I am on vacation anyways).

We had problems too. We were told that it was because we had checked out and our room keys had been deactivated......It was a total annoyance!!! :sad2:

We had no problem when staying at CBR. We checked out and still had no problems using our points for snacks and cs! :thumbsup2

We had problems at MGM on check-out day from OKW in April. No problems when we stayed at BWV last month.
