Has anyone used the bargain silicone items from the Dollar Spot for crafting...specifically making soap?

I got 2 silicone muffin pans that I will assume will work ok for pouring melted glycerin into. I also got a set of silicone heart shapes that the label says they are "ice cube trays". I am not sure if they will be ok to use for melted glycerin.

Is a silicone item a silicone pan no matter what the description? Any silicone can handle hot liquids? TIA

I haven't actually tried this, but does it say anything about it's heat resistance on the label at all?

I know (and own) several silicone baking pans so they are quite heat resistant..but I don't know this to be the case for ALL silicone or for use with products like glycerine (sp) soap.

Haven't made soap in them, but last year I tried to melt crayons in the ice cube ones. I didn't realize they weren't for heating. I put them in the oven at 350 degrees and they melted the tray. So I know firsthand they don't handle excessively high heat like other silicone trays. Not sure of your soap temperature. I ended up purchasing the Wilton trays for $9.99 and that worked well.

Thanks, I think you have answered my questions. I may not be able to use the ice cube trays for hot items. :goodvibes
