using SW points for hotels/car rentals anyone done this before??

I got an offer from SW credit card and it says points earned can be used for hotels, car rentals, vacation packages and flights booked through SW. It's only for the card holders. Anyone done this before or have any thoughts on this? I thought I could use my points for hotel room and save some money.
