Using someone else's MB/FP+

We're getting ready to make FP+ selections and I have a question. Let's say my family of 4 gets to the front of the line and DD decides she doesn't want to ride something (she is pretty timid) - can DS ride twice to make up for that, once using his MB and once using hers - is this where rider swap comes into play? How else have you handled a situation like that, other than to just give up the FP+ for the person who chickens out?

I'm not sure if you could do it if the person actually scans through the line and then chickens out. But if they don't scan the band to use the FP+, then someone else can take that band through. We did that with some of the thrill rides that my kids grandparents didn't want to ride.

Rider swap is for families/groups that has a child than doesn't meet the height requirement.

But yes, to clarify like the PP said....if the band is scanned the FP+ is used. It can't be used again by someone else because someone backed out last minute.

I'm actually not sure that would even work if your DD's band wasn't scanned ahead of time the reason being when the band gets scanned the name of the person pops up on the board and I've seen most CM use that persons name. My point being that if your DD has a more girl name that wouldn't cross over for a male name they might not let your DS use it

Yes. We did this in may. I didn't want want to go on ToT, so my brother took my band and used it without an issue.

Oops, let me clarify, I was not on the line. He took my band and went on the ride.

There are a number of reports on here that the cast members don't care whether the name that pops up on their screen happens to "fit" the person using the magic band. If you are Jim and you use Mary's band, they aren't going to say to you, "Wait, you are not Mary, you can't go in there." They might say "Hi Mary."

I do hope they're not even thinking about "matching" the name to the bandholder at attraction scan in, because the only way to enforce it would be to require ID and that'd be a mess.

You can. We have done this on multiple trips now. DH has used my band without any issues.

Good point I just knew the name popped up but I've never seen anybody with someone else MB before so I' didn't know what the procedure would be

Yes. I had a fast pass for Soaring and a family friend did not. He had never been on it so we swapped bands so he could go in my place. And he definitely does not look like a Julie.

Won't matter. There's a lot of people who use nicknames, character names, or not even a name at all. I think the name is more for personalization purposes rather than checking to see if you've got the right band. No harm to anyone if someone uses both FPs rather than the correct person using one.

Well, as luck would have it, DD has chosen "Pineapple" as her MB name. So, other than the fact that the band is pink, theCMs will be none the wiser!

My whole family decided to do matching red MBs, all good. Pineapple - cute! My dd8 went with "PrincessF" for hers! ;)

The name on the back of the band isn't relevant. The name that shows up on the CM's screen is the name attached to the My Disney Experience account that the band/ticket being used to scan is assigned to.

So, as someone on the boards actually did, if you wanted the name "Batman" to come up on the CM's screen you would have to change the name on your My Disney Experience account to "Batman."

Really? So all of the MBs on my account (7) will come up as Liz when we go through the FPs?

Liz

One evening my 2 sons wanted to ride Space Mt again, but I didn't. I went to the kiosk to get them FP's. I unchecked one of my kids, rather than myself on the list. The CM working at the kiosk told me to simply give my son my band....it would be easier than trying to switch or cancel and rebook. No problems using it.

regards

Yes, if the band is assigned to you. If you have your son on your MDX account, your son's name is Dave and he has a band assigned to him, they'll see the name "Dave" on their screen.

My DH doesn't do thrill rides, so I used his band to ride TOT an extra time last year. The CM didn't comment that it said Jacob when I went through instead of a girls name. I don't think it really matters that much because they "budgeted" for one person to go through the ride during that time frame, so it isn't like you are causing an extra person to go through because they had already planned for a person to get on with that band.
