Using someone else's FP+

I wasn't sure where to ask this so I figured I would start here since it has to do with traveling with children. If this is considered a big no no, please let me know as we've never utilized FP+ before and I've just researched so far. We traveling with 3 young kids and my MIL. She is not getting a park pass, but we all are. She is planning to be available when needed for watching the little ones when they are too tired or DH and I going out for a date night. We are planning on scheduling FP+ for all of us of course just to be ready in case we all go.
If the younger ones decide not to go, would DH and I be able to take their magic bands with us into the parks and utilize their fast passes? I know you scan fingerprints at the front but we would obviously have our own, and I didn't know if it was possible to not waste them. If we do, we do, but thought it was worth asking!

Yes you can do that. I did it no problem with my MIL magic band while she watched the kids.

Was she in the park? I was wondering if it wouldn't work without them using them to get in the park, otherwise couldn't people just add extra fast passes to bands they aren't using and cheat the system?

My girls and I went visiting Mickey at MK wearing my friends' MagicBand with FP+. Our names showed up as Peter, Christopher and May. The CM just smiled, said "Hello Pet.." and changed to girls. Mickey didn't call us by names. LOL

The media does not have to be used for admission to redeem FP

But there was a thread that talked all about getting more fast passes using the method you described I don't know if it's still open but according to it people did it all the time.

We've done this several times. Now, we have Annual Passes, so it's "easier" to get extra FPs as we can book them in advance. We have gone to the park, scanned our bands, had 2 kids Annual Pass bands loaded with 3 FP each in our pocket, and used all 4 bands with FPs. The band does NOT have to be scanned at the entrance in order to use the FPs on it.

Alternatively, you can get extra "same day fast passese" by linking a second Magic Band to a second My Disney Experience MDE account. No need to buy another ticket. You can use that for "same day" fast passes by walking right up to the FP kiosk at park open and get 3 more Fast Passes that are available for that day.

It's a glitch. Maybe they'll fix it -- meaning you have to use the band to get into the park before using it for FPs -- and maybe they won't.
