Using Skype in the USA to call UK Landlines

Hi all

I know that you can use Skype anywhere in the world using Wifi to call other Skype users free of charge, but does anyone know how much it costs if you are a UK resident to use Skype while in the USA to call a UK landline?

it doesnt matter where you're resident or where you're calling from, it just matters who you're calling. apparently calling UK landlines costs 1.6p per minute:

I loaded Skype app on my iPhone together with 10 Euros credit and called many times back to both UK landlines and mobiles during our stay, whenever I got a 'free' wifi hook-up. I still have over half of the credit left

Thanks for this, skype mentions a connection charge for payg, do you know what this is, and how good quality is the reception on a skype to uk landline call when calling from the US?

I think the connection fee is about 4p + VAT
The quality is as good as if you were using your mobile to call using the phone sim, there is a very slight delay in the conversation but this is hardly noticable

The quality of the reception depends on the quality of your internet connection. It should cost less than 2p per minute.

Load up with 10€ of credit before you go. Skype was our lifeline when we were stuck out there for 10 days with the volcanic ash fiasco. You can also call other Skype accounts for free - this is how we kept in touch with people back home when it became clear we weren't going anywhere fast.

If you're using a laptop, it's worth investing in a small set of headphones with microphone attached as the quality of sound is better.

great idea - although a free wifi connection in disney may be hard to come by - would be tempted to use this next time on the iphone.
