My Ils have a ton of RCI points saved and we were talking about using them for Disney next year. They have me the login info, but when I look at the DVC they say it will still cost 2,000??? What is that about? Can we not exchange the points for weeks? Thanks for any help on this. I really want to stay onsite again.

Do they own at an Orlando-area resort? If so, they cannot exchange for DVC through RCI Points.

If they're showing you a cash price (I assume you mean $2,000), you are probably looking at an "Extra Vacation" offer. Those are not exchanges; they're just discounted cash deals.

When you do a search, it should tell you the "type of vacation" you're searching for. You want "Exchanges," not Extra Vacations or Last Calls.

You're likely looking at the ad for WDW. Click on the banner at top for "RCI Points Vacations" then Standard reservations. This is the direct points reservations. Keep the length 7 days and put in your check in dates that you can accept UP TO 30 DAYS. Search by Region (Florida-Orlando). Don't choose a min size so you can see what resorts are available. Once you get a list, click on the radio button for Gold Crown under RCI AWARDS.

If you don't find anything, keep looking at least several times a day. What time and unit size are you looking at?

Thanks. This should really be more user-friendly. We are actually looking for next May so I do not know if they release them that far in advance. I think we are looking at 2 bedrooms.

May 2012 *could* be deposited at any time, but it most likely won't be deposited in any quantity until about seven months prior.

Unlike many RCI points members, the units aren't an automatic deposit avoided if the owner takes their week back. DVC has to actively deposit them. You could see some things at 10 months out but likely more at 7 months out or just after. In reality you have to search several times a day to have the best chance. As for user friendly I think you're mostly dealing with the RCI issues in that regard.
