Hello!

I have a question that's been bugging me fo ryears so i will go ahead and ask your opinion. We probably used the regular dining plan about 6 times, always staying at Value resorts and always using our quick service meal for breakfast at the hotel food court. If we took a plate of chocolate chip pancakes with a juice, the cashier would tell us to go get a danish/muffin/croissant etc since we were allowed a "dessert" on the dining plan. But then, every time i read the dining plan info, it never states that you are allowed an extra treat when you order your breakfast combo with beverage. Is this something official? Because on every trip, on every day, we were told to get an extra item since we were on the dining plan. Thanks for clearing that up!!!!!! (I havent been on the dining plan since 2010 so maybe it changed since then... i have no clue)

No dessert at breakfast. And they no longer allow any substitute, either food or beverage.

If cast members are telling you to get a substitute, they are either not familiar with the official rules Disney has released or taking it upon themselves to provide you with those extra items.

Yes it has changed since you last used it. We used to be able to get 2 beverages with a CS breakfast since you didn't get dessert. Now it is only 1 beverage and no dessert which is why we used very few of our CS credits for breakfast. Even when we ate breakfast at WPE on our last day it wasn't a good use of a CS. But then we had extra we needed to use up.

We usually will use SC for a breakfast pastry and/or eat something in our room for breakfast. Since we were there for 11 nights last time, however, we had a lot of CS to use up. So we did use a few of them to get 3 snacks with-this is considered a Continental Combo and is available at some of the resorts. You'll want to verify yours before you try to use it. We did it at POP in Oct. 2011.

I have a link in my siggy to my QSDP review if you are interested.

Ok, then please explain to me what is consider breakfast items on the dining plan. I thought it was an entree, fruit or juice and another beverage. Please help me clairfy my mind..thank you:)

The Disney brochure states the following:

Each Quick-Service Meal includes:
FOR BREAKFAST
Entrée
Non-alcoholic beverage
FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage

Before 2011 you got the extra beverage in lieu of dessert. This was removed from the breakfast allotments starting in 2011, and it's now just an entree or combo meal and one beverage.

can i use 1 credit to get a quick service meal for breakfast and share between two people....and then use another for lunch on a day we may not want to eat much...

Yes, absolutely. We shared a breakfast order between 3 people, a couple of days.

Yes...think of quick service like eating at Mc Donalds or any other fast food place. One person goes up and gets the order. It is put on the tray and you bring it to the table. All the people sitting there can eat the meal. You will have no issues at all.

At POR the breakfast platter was large...eggs, pancakes or french toast, home fries, sausage, bacon and a biscuit....more than enough for 2!

Unless we have extra counter service credits that will go to waste, we never use them for breakfast: not a good value at all for dining plan credits, unless you're using snack credits. But for full meal credits, it's really a lousy value since you're generally getting less than $10 food value. The same credit in a park would be worth closer to $20 for your lunch or dinner.

You'll find that many breakfast items are under $4...virtually all the pastries, the yogurt, the fresh fruit/fruit cups, cereal, toast...some are even under $2. Even the breakfast platters are in the $8 range at the counter services. We typically would use the refillable mug to get soda or coffee, and pay cash or snack credit for a croissant or fruit cup...hubby even gets biscuits & gravy sometimes for a snack credit (the refillable mug comes with all plans now) Even if we decide to split a platter, we pay cash, and save the counter service credits for the more expensive lunches in parks.
