I'm attending Cal State Fullerton this fall (I move in three days!) and I was wondering if any locals could tell me how to get to Disneyland via the OCTA bus?
Thanks!

I'm not a bus rider, but I checked the OCTA website and they have a trip planner that might help you out. The link is http://www.octa.net/howtoride.aspx. Click on Trip Planner on the left, then use OCTA's "Just Click" to plot your course. If you enter your start (CSUF) and stop (DL) points as "landmarks" it will tell you which buses you need to take. I also noticed that they offer some sort of "deal" for university students, so you may want to check that out too.

Good luck! I wish I could be more helpful, but this should at least give you a start. :thumbsup2

Looking at the OCTA bus schedules it looks like you have a couple of options:

  • #26 to the Fullerton transportation center (shares the parking lot with the Fullerton Amtrak/Metrolink station) then #43 southbound on Harbor Blvd to DLR, or
  • #57 down State College Blvd to Katella, then #50 westbound to DLR.

Since #43 drops you off very close to the hotel shuttle entrance that will probably be the better choice. #50 drops you off at Harbor & Katella so you'd have a bit of a walk to the main entrance.

My son is attending CSUF - hope you don't have any of your classes cancelled due to the budget cuts!

Thanks! I'm just keeping it open as an option. I'm hoping that I can park somewhere close to the main gate but not have to pay for parking.

So far none of my classes have been cut :thumbsup2

Oh that brings back memories....

When I first hired into the Disneyland Resort, I was attending CSUF and living in the Dormitories over there. I used both of the routes you described to get to and from work before I bought a car, lol.

Each route combination has it's good and bad parts. 26/43 gets you to DLR faster and drops you off at the Main Entrance, but 26 isn't a 24 hour route. 57/50 is a bit slower and you have to hike it, but it does run all night.

If you're looking in OCTA's trip planner, the 26/43 bus stops are "COMMONWEALTH -NUTWOOD" in Fullerton for CSUF (this is on the north side of Nutwood, in front of Langsdorf Hall) and "HARBOR-EAST SHUTTLE AREA" in Anaheim for DLR. The 57/50 bus stops are "HARBOR-KATELLA" in Anaheim for DLR and "STATE COLLEGE-NUTWOOD" in Fullerton for CSUF (this is on the far side of the Nutwood Parking Structure, near the TSU).

There's also an additional shuttle that meets incoming Metrolink trains on weekday mornings at the Anaheim Station and stops at various points throughout the Anaheim Resort Area. A few of the Full Time Cast Members in my area who lived in Los Angeles used it regularly.

I'm so glad I have a reply from a former CSUF student. Cool! Thank you for the information.
