?? Using pts at non DVC resort during December

DH and I have decided on a last minute December trip to WDW and there are absolutely zero 1bedroom or studios available for the Dec. 4-8 and 11-15. What are the chances that rooms will be available at POR, CSR or CRC during this time? We've never used our pts at non DVC resorts. I saw on the Dis main page that there are discounts available to these resorts to there must be rooms available, right? Any advice/help would be great. Thank you!

The only real way to know if there is availability is to call MS tomorrow morning.

Remember that if you are within the last 4 months of your Use Year you will not be able to book outside of the DVC properties.

Thank you CraftyMouse. We actually justed started our new use year in September (thankfully). Have you ever used your pts at a non DVC resort?

If you have the DVC annual pass don't forget to check annual pass discounts. I think I saw the deluxe resorts for half off so you may want to keep or rent the points and use the rental money to pay for a room. A room at the WL was advertised for something like $159??? per night. AKL and WL had the best prices for the deluxe catagory. Good Luck.

1. There will be a non refundable $95 reservation fee to make the non-DVC WDW resort reservation.

2. Once points are used for a non-DVC WDW resort, they cannot later be used to make a reservation for a DVC resort. So you can't make the non-DVC reservation and waitlist for a DVC resort if you were planning to cancel the non-DVC resort if the waitlist works.

Oh my goodness!! Thank you CarolMN. Since this is my first time attempting this type of transaction, I wasn't aware of the $95 non refundable fee or the stipulations put on the points.

I went through the passholder section on the WDW official site. It seems like the rooms that are available are the suites which run a lot!!! Thanks for the info. I'll keep checking.

The Mousesavers website has all the the Annual Passholder Room-Only Discounts for 9/28 - 12/23. Values start at $49/nt, moderates $89 while the deluxes OKW and SSR for $164 in a studio. I think the special for the late summer early fall must have been WL and AK for those similar prices. And if you are interested in the dining plan it says it is available through a special package.
