I'm planning a short trip to DC with my DS14 and would like to get a good deal on a hotel in a good area. I've been reading one of the bidding websites' forums and it looks like most people who bid for a 3.5 * in the Capitol area are getting the Marriott Metro Center for less than $80/night. I really want to try, but I don't want to end up somewhere shady. We need to be near the metro to get around. Does anyone have tips or advice for me for bidding?

is there list of known wins...

I know I get nervous - I bid for Chicago, 4* only because of the unknown, but when I've needed something in my suburban town - you have to go to 3 or 2.5* and every time this year I get those stupid extended stay - they only have one bed in their rooms!!!

agreed about betterbidding.com you can compare dates people are traveling to your dates and have a feel for the places they are getting and the rates. then be sure to use rebid zones. what are the dates you are planning to go?

We are going June 15-18th.:) DS has never been and I have only been for a day trip in 7th grade!

check out travelzoo.com too they have some specials on dc hotels, especially some marriotts.

I just bid a room in Alexandria-Old Town area and got the 4* Westin for $112/night. We plan to take the metro from the airport to get there and the metro in and out of town as needed.
