Using pre-booked Disney Transportation on Disembarkation day questions

We will be using Disney Transportation from our airport hotel ( IAH in Houston) for the first time on our next cruise. I believe I completely understand the embarkation day process, except for asking if we are allowed to bring our carryon luggage ( small airline carryon size bags we would like to carry on the ship ourselves) onto the bus with us?
I also have a few questions about DISEMBARKATION day.
On the last night of our cruise, will we place our bags in the hallway by 10pm with the normal character tag we are assigned?
Will we then collect our own luggage after disembarking and take it to the Disney bus with us to be loaded? And again, can our carryon(s) go onto the bus with us, or must they be stowed?

Thankyou in advance for your feedback!

I haven't cruised from Galveston but what you describe is how it works at Port Canaveral. It should be pretty much the same process regardless of port.

Depending on the size of the carry-on it can go on the bus with you to be stowed overhead or under the seat (think personal-type item like backpack), or if it's like a carry-on size suitcase it will go under the bus and you can collect it at the airport with the rest of your luggage that is under the bus. You will need to deal with checking in any checked luggage at the airport, that isn't done for you by DCL.

Thankyou so much lanejudy! I usually keep important documents etc in my carry on bag, (I am not a back pack type person) which is why I asked this. I will just make plans to bring a personal item size bag for that stuff ;-)

We just did this today. We did the express walk off with our luggage to make sure that the luggage got on the correct bus with us. We put our carry-ons in the overhead bit on the bus with us also. Once we arrived at IAH they dropped us at our terminal and from then we were on our own just like a regular check in for a flight

Thankyou for the reply @dad of 3 addicted to DCL!

So, the carryon bags can go onboard with us? The airline size rolling ones? Also, are you saying that if we put our luggage out in the hall the night before we disembark, that it will be placed on a Disney Bus directly and not go to the luggage holding area for us to retrieve?

If you put it out the night before, you pick it up pre-customs in the luggage holding area - which is much less fancy than PC -when they call your luggage tag, then wheel it to the bus.

We took our carry-ons with us on the bus. Looked like most did the same

Of note: the ship didn't clear customs & gangway didn't open until 8am. Line wound from the atrium back to Rapunzel's then back towards the atrium. Whe we started moving, the end of the line was by the Soul Cat lounge

Okay, thankyou for the clarification!
I was just confused when you said that y'all did express walkoff to ensure your luggage got on the right bus.

Our flight home isn't until 4pm on disembarkation day, so I was assuming we would be safe taking our time that morning and staying onboard to have breakfast. We would be scheduled for second breakfast, so that would put us getting off the ship around 8:30-9am I am guessing. (Plus that sounds better than standing in a long line similar to what happened to you!)

Yep. If you have 2nd seating and a late flight, there is no need to line up to disembark as soon as your tag color is called. You can enjoy your breakfast and walk off the ship when you're done.

So you know, our bus departed at 9 AM. There were other busses available, but unsure as to their destination. Some were going to the Hilton, others to the San Luis resort.

We did the walkoff so that we'd be sure that our luggage was on the correct bus. Our flight left at 3 PM, but it was a peace of mind decision more than anything.

Disney Transportation? It just picjs you up from any hotel and takes you to port? What about Port Canaveral? If I want to be picked up from a hotel and to the port where do I book that? What is the price?

$75 if I recall correctly. From a DisneyWorld hotel or MCO and the Hyatt. You need to call DCL to add transportation to your reservation. If you are a large group or family Uber/Lyft might work out cheaper.

If you booked your cruise yourself, you can schedule bus transportation between the ship and a Disney resort (in Orlando), the airport (all or almost all departure ports), and select hotels (ports other than Port Canaveral) by calling DCL. If you used a travel agent, the agent will need to call for you.

DCL transportation to Port Canaveral runs from MCO or WDW resorts. Not just any Orlando area hotel. I believe you are staying maybe at a Universal resort, so if you want to take DCL transfers to port you’d need to get back to MCO to catch the bus.

Actually “only” $45 pp each way. Only the round trip bus transport between MCO and PC can be booked online. All other DCL bus bookings require a phone call. We’ve booked MCO to PC and PC to WDW hotel for a Fantasy sailing next month.

You can book the others via email. I've done that because I absolutely hate calling.

Our TA booked ours for us. Houston Marriott Airport to Galveston Wharf (Port) and then back to IAH airport post cruise. $90pp round trip.

Of note, the DCL bus runs from IAH to the port ONLY on embarkation day. Coming in in the day of getting underway gives me the willies

It's $45 per person each way (so would be $90 total).
