My husband and I will be staying at POR, while the rest of our party (MIL, FIL, SIL, her DH, her DS3, her DS7) is most likely staying at Pop Century.

Is the rest of our party allowed to swim at our pool? I know the pools can be a little nicer at the moderate resorts than they are at the value resorts, and the young boys might enjoy it a little more. They wouldn't be there without us, and I don't want to "sneak" anyone in. I just want to make sure I know what the rules are before we go.

Thanks for your help!!

You will find this is a very "hot" topic with Dissers! Resort guests are only allowed to swim in their own resort pools, with the exception of DVC owners (who have their own rules re. pool hopping). I think the pop pools are supposed to be well themed, so I am sure the kids will enjoy themselves there just fine! :)

I definitely don't want to cause any trouble, that's why I wanted to ask. We still have 7 months before we leave...but I like to be ready!

Thanks for the advice!

Resort guests are only allowed to swim at their resort pools. Lifeguards can ask for resort id (especially at Stormalong Bay at YC & BC). That said, if half of your party is at one resort and half is at the other, could you get away with having the kids all swim together at one resort? Probably - as long as they all behaved themselves. That's your call to make.

This is one of those topics that gets everyone fighting and my guess is your thread will be closed.

My advice is to ask the management at the hotel about the policy.

The pools are for guests of that resort only. If you ask the lifeguard and they say yes then it is ok. Otherwise I would visit at a water park.

I actually don't see a big difference in the pools between a value and moderate outside of the waterslide that moderates have. Actually, the value pools seem to be a little bigger in size. Have a wonderfulf time. :) :)

I was going to agree... you might in fact find yourself having the opposite effect: your boys wanting to go to Pop to swim in the bowling pin pool, flower pool, and computer pool!

We didn't find anything "fancy" at the POR and found it to be rather boring and lack luster. The water slide is nice, but I would rank the overall pool area as 4th out of the 4 moderates (factoring in CBR's soon to be pool area).

I would suggest you ask the lifeguard at your pool. You will most likely get a yes, but it's just polite to ask. Otherwise, you could head over to the pools at POP. For the kids the pools at POP are going to be a lot of fun. The only difference is the water slide. I'm not sure I would be thrilled if I was staying at POR and trying to get a seat by the pool and found there to be guests from another resort there. Not trying to be negative, but that's how I feel. I have seen the main pool at POR very crowded in the past, at the busier times of year.
So...ask before you try it. If you get a yes...terrific. Otherwise, head to a water park or the pool at POP.

just asking--------no flames please-------why would it be OK for OP to go to POP (as she is staying @ POR) but not OK for the rest of the gang to come over to POR? I didn't think anyone (other than DVC owners) could hop e.g. val to mod nor mod to val..........

Technically, they can't. It just seems to be a much bigger problem with the deluxes and then the moderates. It's especially bad if the resort is within walking distance (or monorail) of a park.
I suggested that everyone go to POP simply because of numbers. It makes more sense to try to get two people in at POP vs 6 into the moderate. The pool area at POP is more spread out, so it probably wouldn't matter nearly as much when it came to finding seats together.
That was my only point. But you're completely correct. It is not allowed at any resort. Generally speaking you should stay where you want to swim. I own DVC and I don't pool hop...way too much trouble.

I'm guessing that the suggestion implied that the adults could hang out around the pool while the kids (all of whom are staying at POP) swim.

I have asked this question before, and reality is, more people would rather swim at a nicer resort. period. Personally, if everyone is staying at a Disney resort and you are all in a gathering, it shouldn't matter. Together time, priceless. Not everyone in your party may be able to afford an extra day at a water park. Children don't understand this.

I know this is always a hot topic, but here is our story. We were staying Poly concierge a few years back and my sister in law was at WL. She came over and wanted to swim with my kids. I did not want to swim that day, I just wanted to watch. I politely asked if she could swim with my boys and explained that I was not and she was a guest at WL. They did say O.K. I am a rules person. I would not have had her swim if it was not o.k. It was only one person for a person, so maybe that is why they said yes. Who knows? I would ask though. Just my opinion. Have fun on your vacation!:)

Hmm... but that potentially deprives POR Guests from finding chairs.

I have stayed at value resorts, mod and deluxe resorts.... our favorite pools are at POP and CSR.... we would actually rate the AKL pool below these.... I felt that pool was small and the slide was nothing spectular... actually the one at POFQ is better than the AKL...
