Using Pools at other resorts

I understand the OP wanted her family to be able to spend time together. One thing I have never really understood (other than the OP situation) is why would you want to pool hop. Then you have to get on a bus/monorail/boat/car soaking wet to go back to your resort to get changed. I just can not imagine going to all that hassle to swim in another pool. I just find it kind of crazy.

I have some friends who do this every time they stay at Disney. They stay in the campgrounds and because they only spend a day or two of their trip in the parks they will go to the Deluxe's and use the pools. :confused3 It is a lot of work IMO, but they seem fine with it. I guess it is part of their vacation. They visited us at AKL and it took a long time for them to arrive, over an hour IFRC. Too much time and trouble for a change in pool scenery for my bunch.

I REALLY don't see what the big deal is... whatsoever. I would DEF say ASK at the front desk OR the lifeguards. I love POR but I dont think the kiddies will be too thrilled with the main pool there. Maybe go over to POFQ (which btw you are allowed to use) the dragon pool might excite the kiddies more.

Also yes, I know the All-Stars & Pop Century lack the waterslide... but I think as a kid (well I know when I was a kid) Pop is very cool. Maybe even take a little walk around (cause I dont think the kids will understand the POP theme) You def need to take a walk around the other All-Stars... they will be in awe.

I can see when ppl get all tied up in a knot about pool hopping. I can see (lets say) your at CBR and you decide to go over.. to I dunno the GF to use their pool. THAT seems wrong. Or I've heard stories about ppl who are staying totally off property using a disney-resort pool... ok thats pushing it? But when two famalies are staying at different resorts and want to spend some time together... come on ppl. What is an extra chair here and there or a a couple extra kids in the pool going to do to you? Get over it.

And also to the OP... we've been there when my older sister has been at CSR or another resort and we've gone and visited them so I can play with my neice and nephew in the pool. And guess what? We ended up buying drinks/food by the pool etc... in the end giving Disney more of our $$ no doubt. My parents are also DVC and the last time we were there we didn't even stay on points and asked the front desk at a couple of places if it would be OK if we sat by the pool/beach ( lol we didnt even go in)... and *gosh* NOBODY CARED. And the fact that the other family is also a Disney resort guest. I REALLY don't think Disney even cares as much as half of the ppl on here.

So I say... enjoy your time together at whatever pool you end up going to. Ignore some of the ppl here, they need to get over it.

While I understand your point, and agree with you up to a point, Disney has put signage up, at every resort not just the deluxes, stating that the pool is for the guests staying at that particular resort. Most of us here have maintained a good attitude about what's allowed and what isn't...I don't really see the need for the comment to 'get over it'...that's what starts a thread down the slippery slope to being locked.
I don't think anyone here has an issue with an uncle at POR having his nephew from POP spend some time in the pool with him at POR or POFQ. Going out on a limb here, but I think most will agree. It's when entire extended families show up at another resort and take up several tables or a ton of poolside chaises that makes people get a bit miffed.
Again, I agree with most of what you say...just didn't like being told to 'get over it'.

I wasn't talking to you... since obvoiusly more or less you agree with me. I'm talking about the people on here who loose sleep over it... and are the ones that cause these threads to get shut down.

I'm not trying to be offensive, I just find it amazing how ppl care SO MUCH about what other ppl do. I.e board topics like about re-using mugs and pool hopping. If you think it's wrong don't do it (end of story)... why get worked up about it. There are rules/laws (more serious being broken every single day- even as we speak) do what you think is right. :confused3 why? why? why?

If you are a guest at a deluxe resort with a nice pool, it's very disheartening to head to the pool only to not be able to find a lounge. And it's even worse when you find out people not paying to stay at your resort are occupying the lounges and using the pool. If you want to swim at a specific pool, pay to stay there. When there are posted rules, everyone needs to follow them and not do "what you think is right". If you make the rules, you get to do "what you think is right".
