We are in the process of purchasing 200 points at the BWV. Disney has already waived ROFR. We currently have reservations at the CBR starting August 16th. We are hoping that we will close and be able to use our points instead of staying at the CBR.

We are purchasing a contract with
2002 - 200 banked points
2003 - all 200 points available

I have two questions. Based on all your experience, what are our chances of getting a 2 bedroom at this late date? There are 5 of us.

Or

If we want to use our points to stay @ the Poly, what is the point charge per night?

Thanks very much. I have learned alot from reading this board.

What a good contract. What did you pay per point for such a great contract, if I may be so bold as to ask?

You might be able to get OKW but even that is iffy at this late date. We tried to get a one bdrm for your time period and all the resorts were sold out. We are going to Vero in an Inn room instead. Less points and less stress.

All the point charts are on www.dvcmember.com just put in the resort you want and it will tell you how many points it is. If you need the user ID or password just PM me.

Congratulations on your upcoming purchase! You never know until you call MS what is available. If you're open to "any" DVC resort your odds may increase.

The different views and weekday vs. Fri-Sat effect the cost of the Poly. The basic garden view room is 33 per night for weeknights and 60 per night Fri-Sat.

Re Polynesian Points: You don't want to know.

The absolute minimum, for garden view during value season, is 33 points weekdays, 60 weekends. (For that, you can get a 2BR suite at any DVC resort.) They go up from there, all the way to 70/126 for lagoon view concierge during holiday season. (2003 point charts)

The truth is that using points to stay at the Polynesian is a poor value at best. I love the Polynesian; so it broke my heart, and nearly broke the deal, when I realized this. But I joined DVC anyway, with the intention of using cash when I stay there, and points when I stay at DVC. Unfortunately you need to burn some points this year, but I'd say go with OKW or whatever's available, and keep some points banked for next year.

icy-dog, we're paying $74 a point with a Feb use year. We really liked all those banked points.

Pamokw, thanks for the info. We had a book that we received in 2000 when we toured the BWV. But I knew the points had gone up.

Erik, Our first choice would be to stay at a dvc resort. But if there aren't any available, I'd like to use them at the Poly. Our 2002 points will expire the end of January. The next time we could go would be over New Years when the kids are on break. But I keep reading about the waitlist for new years, so that didn't sound promising.

Thanks for the info!

I had to run before so I cut the post short. Here are the rest of the Poly point options for Sept (using Weekend/Weeday)

Lagoon View 76/42
Concierge Lagoon View 90/50

The Contemporary, Yacht Club and AKL are slightly less. GF is slightly more.

The Garden wings at the Contemporary are less, the tower is about the same maybe slightly more.

We were in a simular (sp) situation when we bought our first resale..... lots of banked points that had to be used..... we spent 4 nights at the BC Concierge and 5 nights at the Poly Lagoon View COncierge and we didnt regret it at all. Yes, it cost a hell of a lot of points, but I figured it would be a long time before we had sooooo many points to use at once, we shouldn't pass up the chance. I looked at the banked points as the incentive they gave for BVC points, free nights at a WDW resort.... BUT our OKW resale cost us a lot less (64 pp with 400 banked points! Ahhhh those were the days! LOL)

Go for it. Splurge.... it is the first of many trips to WDW...... do what ya want..... have fun...... enjoy!
