Using points for a cruise

Can anyone tell me if I can use my points for a July 28,2012 cruise on the Magic? This is what I have my 1 st contract with an April UY has 2013 - 111pts, 2014 -256pts, my 2nd contract with an October UY has 2012 - 13pts, 2013 - 200pts and 2014 - 200pts. The cabin I am looking at is 831 pts for 8 nights. Please help me, I am drawing a blank.

As I understand it, all points must be in one contract and the UY of the trip in question. You'd be able to borrow the 111 points from your April 2013 UY and your 13 its from your Oct, 2012 UY and likely transfer them even though they'd be borrowed. Now DVC generally is able to make it work but this is my understanding of how it's supposed to work. Also, the cruise and cabin in question has to be available to book with DVC on points, that has been a tall order lately, especially on shorter notice. It sounds like putting it off a year is likely to work out much better for you. Once you check on it with CHP, let us know how it actually goes and what options they do give you.

Also, as has been mentioned many times here, often it is a MUCH better deal to rent out your points at $10/point and then use that money to book the cruise.

Do we as DVC members get a discount on cash reservations? We are wanting to book our first cruise soon and I was really surprised to see this deal.

No, no discount for DCL. There is the members cruise, but if not using points I believe the whole charge must be paid. There are usually s lot of extras on that cruise. We'll see if they are as good with 2 of them this time.

Per MS - all DCLs on points are booked until mid-Oct 2012.

I just booked for a 5night Canada cruise for September 7,2012 using points for an inside stateroom today. I think it depends if a room is available for points.
