Has anyone used paypal to pay someone for something other than ebay? I Was on another site and they had a virtual show for and invited me to purchase a few things. I was not a fan of the way brand did business (at homes sales, pampered chef type thing) but wanted a few things. So I decided to try it out. With low pressure sales I tried the "virtual show" first.

I now have to pay for the items and got an email from the company showing items were ordered but now I need to send funds via paypal to the person I have never met. (the director to the one who hosted the show) Am I crazy or is this semi normal?

I use Paypal outside of ebay all the time, but in order to be protected you should ask the host/person requesting the money to send you an invoice for your goods or a money request.

If you just send her the money, you have no recourse if the stuff does not arrive.

If Paypal is an option, I use it over giving my CC# to yet another website.

It's easier to dispute a Paypal transaction too.

I think I might have already gotten that. It was an email from the company stating what I ordered with my name and address etc. It then had payment stating check. Does that sound like a proper invoice or money request to you?

I use it all the time. Like a previous poster mentioned, I'm more comfortable with that than with putting my CC# in to a bunch of different websites, especially with the recent security breaches.

What you got sounds like a Paypal-generated invoice. It should show the items you ordered, the sales person's name or DBA, and your total. That is absolutely normal, part of Paypal's business tools.

As long as you pay via goods, you are protected. You don't need to have an invoice to pay.
