DH and I had our 1st trip to Disney in 98. Bought 5 day hopper passes and think I only used 4 but after reading some posts think I may have used them up. Someone posted after entering your 1st park of the day, one day is used up, then you need a handstamp before going to the next park. We didn't know anything about a handstamp. One day of the trip we scanned at AK in the a.m. and then went to Epcot in the p.m. and ran them through the scanners. Did we accidently use 2 days up or does the computer system know to only take off one per day?

No, it would only have taken one day. When you send your ticket through the first turnstile it marks the day by Date and time stamp. When you hop over to another park it just time stamps the additional park, it does not take another day from the ticket. When they run a querey on the ticket they can tell you every park you went to that day and what time, but only one day is taken from the ticket at a time. When you "hop" you need the handstamp AND the ticket. Everyone has to run a ticket through regardless so even with the handstamp a ticket is required so you did it right (just forgot the handstamp) :)

Thank you so much for your help. Going back in Dec and taking our DS for his 1st trip ( 5th bd present). I will remember the handstamps this time!

I'm just curious as to why you need to get the hand stamped if you still need the pass? I have to admitt. In all the years I've gone to WDW, I've never gotten my hand stamped when I left one park and went to the next.

But actually, when I think about it now. We never really went from one park to another very often. We'd usually head back to the resort for swimming and or resting. Then head back into another park.

You are lucky you got into another park without the handstamp. the reason for the handstamp is to show that YOU personally were in another park that day, and not just that the ticket was used by SOMEONE to enter the park that day. It applies even if you are re entering the same park that day, no hand stamp and they do not have to let you in.

They use different handstamps at different parks on different days. So if there is a problem with your ticket when you put it in the reader, they will check your hand with the black light. If it shows as being used that day, but you don't have a hand stamp, they might think that you are using someone else's ticket.

Sometimes the CM's at the ticket entrance are distracted so they don't check the handstamp but everytime I park hopped they looked. The black light is right over the spot that you have to reach to pick up your ticket. Unless you look close you don't see it yourself.
