We will be using our points for a trip that includes DD's inlaws, BIL and niece and nephew. We have told them we would be happy to take care of their room. We have never charged relatives or friends for their accomodations. DD's MIL is insisting that they contribute in some way. We thought about having them pay for a meal and groceries. What are your thoughts as to be what is fair?

Treating you to a meal is a nice gesture, as is buying groceries.

My DSis recently treated all of us to the Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. I don't ask for any recompense, but our guests usually do something for the whole group.

If you or your DD talks to her frankly about the arrangement, I'm sure you can come up with something!

Have a great time, that sounds like it's going to be fun!

We've invited friends and family many times. Although I don't see anything wrong with doing so, we've never personally asked anyone to pay us for their accommodations.

At the same time, we don't want those we've invited to feel like they're just tagging along on our vacation. We want them to feel totally at home and comfortable. For that reason, in the cases were someone has offered to provide groceries, treat to a dinner, or do something else to contribute to the trip, we always graciously accept.
