Hello,
May a DVC member use the swimming facilities at a vacation club resort they are not staying at. I have a daughter that is a swim freek and she has seen the pictures of all of the pools and wants to use them all when we go down.
By the way. Thank you for the warm "welcome home"!

Unless it has changed (and I haven't heard that it has) DVC members are allowed to use the pool at ANY WDW resort.

We also have a daughter who is a swim freak. Our home resort is the BWV and it is just a short walk to the beach club. the pool(s) there are fantastic, they also have a water lagoon along w/ a giant water slide and also a kiddie slide. My daughter is three and she loves it. We spent two whole days over there in september. There pools are very shallow and sand bottom. They are great, just bring your key showing that you are a DVC Member and you can get right in. They supply the towels and the pails and shovels. Have fun!!

DVC Members and their Guests may use the pools at any Disney-run resort at WDW provided that:

1. You/they are staying at a WDW DVC resort.
2. You/they are using points to "pay" for the stay, not $.

There is no pool-hopping for day visitors to DVC's Vero or Hilton Head resorts, regardless of whether you are staying on points at another DVC resort or not. The WDW pool-hopping privilege may be suspended when/if large crowds are anticipated (major holiday weeks) and it may be eliminated at some point. It's a neat benefit for DVC'ers.

call the front desk on the resort that you want to pool-hop to. (I don't think there is a charge for this call). the AKL is the only one that DVC does not have pool-hopping priviledges. However if the hotel is full the guards will not let you in. (which is why you call the front desk before you try it).

Last year they sent out a notice that pool hopping at Y&B would be suspended during Easter Break because of the large crowds. Not sure what the plans are this year but I assume it would be the same.

As a practical matter, it would be extremely unusual to even have anybody question you at the pool. DVC member or not, you can probably go wherever you want without a problem.

Tom

sorry - but people have been throw out of Stormalong bay when we were there. So at least bc/yc enforce their policy.

spiceycat is right. But this generally happens in the weeks before and after Easter. I have not heard of it filling up and closing to DVC members at other times, but YC/BC is the most likely to fill up. Other resorts will not close the pool to DVC just because the resort is full.

I hate to be disagreeable - but if I don't have my car I won't pool hop - one Saturday night (fireworks and parade) at mk only one that month I was turn away by the security guards at the Polyn and the Cont.

Ah. Spiceycat, I hadn't thought of the parking angle. I was only refering to the pool staff. Another twist to consider. :)
