Using Online Booking to reserve for other members

Several months ago DVC member friends made reservations for us, when we had no points to use, by calling member services. Now as we have the points I'm looking to exchange the favour by making reservations using the DVC online reservation facility and booking in their name. Is this allowed? Hopefully all I would need to do is change my personal information, which is prefilled on the form, and add their personal info; and also check the member box as they too are members.

Yes, you simply type in their first & last name instead of yours in the pre-fill area. You should also probably check (or uncheck?) the box under each name that indicates they are members on the reservation, as technically it is considered a rented reservation (as they are not the members that own the points being used for that particular reservation). But it is easy to make online reservations for a 3rd party, I've booked some friends into OKW for a trip in January.

Can you change names on a reservation ?
I have a reservation booked on my own name but may need to cancel now.
Can I "rent" this reservation to someone else ? Is this allowed ? Seems the process is much simpler to me than cancel my reservation and than rent the points. Anyone done this ?TIA

Yes, you can change the names on an existing reservation.

You can rent either the existing reservation or your points; it's up to you. Be advised, though, that the DISboards rent/trade board has restrictions on posting existing reservations. Be sure to read the sticky for the rules.

Seems you can only post a rent reservation if travel dates are within 1 month.

Thanks anyway for directing me to the rent/trade stickies. I was not aware of those posting restrictions. Glad I didn't try to post anything as I don't want to violate rules.
