Using old park hopper pass fear..

I know I have a few days left on each of my park passes. But I have this fear that when I go through the park, the passes won't register. I will go to guest services to verify the number of days left;however what happens if it shows up as no days left when I know there are days left? Has this ever happened? Could this happen. I have the passes stored in an envelope in a drawer with the copies of my payment on them.

There is absolutely no reason to worry!

You see, those tickets do not actually store any info on them except for their serial number. The info on how many days the ticket had when it was bought, and how many days are used, is all stored in the WDW computer system.

It works just like an ATM card - your money is not on the card, it's in teh bank, and the card just lets you access it. Same with a WDW pass - your admission days are not on the card, they're in the WDW computer system, and the card just lets you access them.

One suggestion: take your receipts out of the envelope and store them in a different location. And when you go to WDW, take them with you, but in a different bag than the tickets. You see, the serial numbers of those tickets are the important thing; if you lose the tickets, but you have the serial numbers, you can get the tickets replaced by new ones, just like if you lose an ATM card or credit card.

If a dispute comes up as to how many days are left on a ticket, it becomes a credibility issue. You would want to be able to say you were at WDW on such and such days and airplane ticket stubs showing when you arrived and departed can also help.

I am led to believe that Disney is not going to fight exhaustively on this subject, unless your dates and their dates (yes Disney records your usage)don't make sense suggesting you bought the ticket from an unauthorized used ticket dealer.

Wow, I have a similar fear about our old park hopper passes. We have one park hopper day and two plus options left on each of our tickets. We have ordered 3 day tickets (no hopper/no plus options). We will be going to the parks for 4 days, but only one of those days we will be hopping from one park to another, which is when we want to use our old tickets. I am so nervous they will not work. I wonder, can you buy a one day park hopper ticket at the gate that morning, if you had to?

A one day ticket with hopping costs $101.

Adding a fourth day and adding hopping to the existing 3 day pass costs $51. but I think you have to do it before the parks close for the evening after you use up the last day on the pass.

COme to think of it, it is unreasonable to expect you to remember your lifetime Disney visit history in your head every time you go down to WDW. Therefore you should expect to be able to hold on to an old ticket for which admission is refused so you can look up your past history back at home to bring with you on yet another future visit where you use the old ticket.

On our last trip we used park hopper tickets that were 4 years old and they worked just fine. The time before we used a flex option from 3 years prior with no problems. What I do is after using the ticket, write in pencil how many days are left, changing it with each use. Then when the trip is done I use a marker so I will know the next time how many I have left for the next trip. I have done this many times without incidence, so I am confident you will have no problems! Have a great trip, and don't worry!

I've used left-over days on lots of old passes over the years most recently in May. In a total of at LEAST 10 times, there's never been any discrepency on how many days I think I have VS. how many days Disney has recorded on old passes.
