Hi

Going to use NE tickets in February for 1 day while staying at GFV.

How do I get bands and set up FP with them?

thanks!

If you are staying on-site they will give you the option to customize your magic bands in MDE. They will ship 30 before your trip (if you are in the US). All of the information from MDE will be on the linked magic bands. You do not need the magic bands to make your fastpasses 60 days out. Once they are in MDE, they will be connected to the park ticket and the magic band.

I added my no-expiration tickets to the My Disney Experience(MDE) app when I bought them. When I went on an off-site visit in Oct. 2014 - I just went to Downtown Disney and bought Magic bands and they linked them right up to my card tickets (which I had with me) and my MDE account on the spot at the cash register.

On my next trip (august 2015), I stayed on-site and was sent Magic Bands .. there was nothing I needed to do. Those Magic Bands were already automatically linked to my no-expiration tickets (since they were already all stored in MDE).

We are driving in from Daytona on Wednesday to use the last day on our No Expiration tickets (purchased in 2007). We're not staying onsite and will be going straight to Magic Kingdom. Do we just simply go to a ticket booth and turn in our tickets for Magic Bands? I'm guessing there's no way to do FP+ selection until we get to the park and get bands, right?

Thanks

You don't even need bands.

You can set up FPs by linking the tickets to your MDE account. You will need to stop somewhere (not sure exactly where) to get *cards* for your tickets; those cards will be linked to your MDE account and can access FP+s.

Since you're not staying onsite you will have to buy bands. If you want to do that, you could buy them from disneystore.com if you really wanted to. If you don't want to buy bands, you won't be given bands, and you don't even NEED them. (the only thing they do that a card doesn't is automatically get ride photos and get the minetrain video)

The place to stop in order to get plastic cards, since Scoutdog is headed to MK, is going to be either the TTC ticket booths or the Guest Relations/Will Call windows right next to MK's main entrance. :)

I ALWAYS bring my NE hard tickets (cards converted from paper a few years back) with me just in case there is an issue :-) It's only happened once when my husband's MB wouldn't work at the MK, but it was nice to have the backup.

I want to emphasize this:

You should go to your MDE account RIGHT NOW (create one HERE if you don't have one) and input your ticket numbers and make your FP+ reservations.
No need to wait until you are at WDW.

And, again, you do not need MagicBands at all. Ever. (Unless you just want to buy them.)
MagicBands and FP+ are two separate things.
One is not required to obtain or use the other.

We have non expire tickets we bought 5 years ago. We go to Disney world a lot but rarely go to parks so we have 4 or 5 days left. The first time we used the paper tickets after the new system we went to guest services at whatever park wecwere at. They gave us the hard plastic tickets with new numbers on them and had all four of us re activate thrm with our fingerprint.

Just so it's clear, the only information on a magic band is its id number. When it is read by the Mickey reader the id number is sent to a computer where your MDE account information (FP+, credit card, etc) is stored and accessed.
