I must admit...I am scared! I just booked a solo trip for myself next week, using my DVC points for most of the trip!!

I have quite a few DVC trips already scheduled through next year, and they are all with friends and relatives...nothing wrong with this, of course, and I am *so* happy to be able to treat the people close to me by sharing my most favorite place on Earth with them.

But....

I thought, wouldn't it be fun to visit Disney by myself? Not for too long, of course, but just a short trip to do my favorite things without having to worry about if other people are enjoying themselves?

DVC made that possible! Using 24 points, I booked a 3 night stay in an OKW studio, and am rounding the trip out with 2 nights at CSR beforehand, with an AP rate of course!

Isn't DVC great!?!!

That sounds like fun, a short trip doing just the things you really want to do or maybe one day, just relaxing and doing "nothing". I think I would enjoy that, as long as I had other trips planned with family etc. later on, like you said you do.

Enjoy and have a blast!!:D

Sounds wonderful, JohnathanS:teeth:

I like alone time at home; bet you will have a great time! Post a trip report upon your return, pretty please::yes::

Good for you.

We often bring friends or family with us when at WDW and love doing so. But, I have to admit on occasion we vacation alone (just the 2 of us) and it sure is nice not to have to coordinate the days activities.

We like to be good hosts, so the things we like to do become secondary to that of our guests. Of course we're at WDW so often that we'll get to do the things we want next time. Usually though, the next time turns into the next time and so on...until we do like JonathanS does.

No need to be scared...have a great trip and travel safe.

Jonathan,

I know how you feel. DH can't get away the rest of the year but I desparately needed my Disney Fix ;)

So with my DVC points I did just what you did, and booked a week for myself in November!!

Surprised, Scared and SO Happy to be going to WDW.

Have a great trip!!!

Disney solo is very adictive.....

I love my solo trips - they are generally the best!!!

if you get lonely - just go look on the Dis Meet board and see if you can join one - the Adults and Solo board have a post where you can join other solo for dinner if you want.

You are going to the happiest place on earth - believe me you will not miss anyone!!!!

Also, DVC studios are just perfect for solo trips! After my first solo trip staying in a studio at BCV, we did an add-on of 100 points just to "fund" my solo trips! Don't be surprised if you don't feel comfortable with sit-down dining solo. That's something that comes in time for some people. It took me about 4 solo trips before I could do sit down dining solo and enjoy it. I bet you'll have a great time.

I went solo last January, first time. It was great! Unfortunately, the days just flew by.. Have fun!

I'm hoping to do a solo trip sometime too. I was actually going to do it last February and my father thought it was too dangerous and insisted on going, even though he really didn't want to go to that place that was just for kids. I'm 47, he's 80.LOL

Of course he loved it and we're going back again this February, this time taking my aunt/uncle who's in their late 70's.

Now, between Dad, my DD, and granddaughters, I may never get my solo trip.:D

There is a solo and adult forum on these boards.

About 5 years ago, we planned one of our many trips at OKW and it turned out that at the last minute only I was able to go. My DH, DD and DS encouraged me to go alone and I was soooooo hesitant to do it, but I did!!!!!!!!! It was absolutely great. So good that I try to do it once a year. We go several times each year with friends and family, which is terrific, but I missed my solo trip this year. We have a rather hectic family life, and it really does me good to be all alone for a short period of time, expecially at WDW. I try to go for a week if we have enough points left. It is so nice to do whatever YOU want and whenever you want. You will enjoy it!!!

I have planned my first trip "home" as a family reunion over Thanksgiving to BWV with 12 family members. I can't wait - to the point that I'm not going to wait! I have decided to go solo for 4 days this month to "scout" for our trip - check out restaurants, best sleeping arrangements, etc. (Actually I just want to go by myself and this is a great excuse!)

Sorry, I haven't responded to everyone's wonderful words of encouragement...but I've had house guests all week and had to work extra hard in preparation for next week's trip!

Since my last post, I was able to secure an AP discount at the Polynesian for my first 2 days...an indulgence I know-though DVC makes it more affordabls to splurge on this-and it will put me at one of my favorite resorts. It will also keep me from renting a car---I don't mind Disney Transportation, except when I'm going to the MK. Being at the Polynesian solves that problem.

But then comes the best part of the trip...OKW! I know I will feel very comfortable there- it is "home" after all! ;)

All the best,

JohnathanS
