Using MM - one party member has it, one doesn't

I wanted to ask what others' experiences have been using MM. I bought a 3-day park hopper (through the socal city pass) and DW bought a 2-day park hopper because she will be in training for a week. My ticket came with one MM, hers did not. When we tried to enter early, I got through no problem, but she was stopped for not having MM. We explained that we were together, and the CM pushed a few buttons and let her through as a MM guest.

Is this typical? Is there official policy on it, and/or does it depend on the CM?

You get MM when you buy a 3 day or more pass.

You got lucky. Most CM's won't let you through unless your pass has MM on it, and you only get it with a hopper that has 3 or more days on it.

Whew...I am very glad we made it through! I just wasn't sure if it was typical or unusual that DW got to come through with me. Looks like we were lucky! Thanks all!
