Brother-in-law is in military and able to buy up to 5 tickets for "friends and family" Does he have to be with us for us to use them? No other one in our party is in military! Thanks!!!!!!!!

Tooth Fairy,

I followed a link from Mousesavers.com to the official Disney website regarding this offer (sorry, I don't know how to post the link or quote :o ). It says that the tickets must be purchased either by the military member or spouse at the WDW park ticket windows with active military IDs. Don't know if they actually have to accompany you into the park...but they have to be there to buy the tickets...hope that helps.

So a spouse can purchase the tickets without the military person there? I'm going in October without DH, with my sisters. I'm really hoping I can purchase the tickets without DH there! I do have a dependent military ID...

katerkat,

According to the info I read, looks like you should be able to puchase those tickets without his being there. You might want to check out the official info on that (you can link through Mousesavers to the site) because it gives more detailed info about the tickets.

No problem when I did it a couple of years ago...my cousin and I went without my husband and I purchased our tickets at SOG without any problem...just had to show my I.D. Good Luck and Have Fun!!!;)

In order to get Military tickets at walt disney world, you must buy them at Shades of Green (currently located at the contempory resort do to construction). To buy them there, you must show millitary ID. Once you have them, no more checks for Military IDs....

My father is a Vet. and he bought our tickets one trip at shades of green. When my friend and I entered the gate, it worked like a regular pass, he did not need to be with us. Only thing diffrent about the Park hopper (this was in spring 2001) was that it said Military on the back.

Check out www.shadesofgreen.org for more info...

but I assume if your a spouse of a person in the armed fources, you should be able to buy the tickets if you have your own Military ID. I'm not positive, check the shades of green website for a phone number to call, i'm sure theyw ill be able to anwser it.

If you're talking about the special ticket offer for military, the tickets must be purchased from Guest Services at any of the parks.

Regular military/DoD/retired military tickets are purchased at Shades of Green.

Several years ago when we went, our tickets were purchased thru the Recreation Department or Special Services (I don't remember exactly what it's called now) of our local military base before we ever left for Disney. You might want to check with your base to see if that's available - that way you don't have to waste time standing in line to get your tickets when you arrive.

Inaminute is correct...the Military Salute tickets (free to active duty, and $99 for spouse/friends--up to 5 total) must be puchased at the parks. Per the info on the official website, they will not be available at SOG or local MWR offices.

As said all tickets must be gotten at WDW's guest services when you get there. Anyone with a valid military ID can get them if the active duty member is not there. When we went last year for the Armed Forces salute, we went to a guest services when we got there and easily got our tickets. They did do something with a finger print while we were there and then everytime we went in we had to do a fingerprint thing. Not sure if it is the same this time.
The regular SOG tickets can be bought at any mwr at a military base or the SOG office at WDW.

was wondering if anybody know if a father of a son(in the Air Force) deployed overseas would be able to purchase these tickets
without him being there? I have power of attorny (to pay his bills)
A official letter from the Air force showing this. Or can spouse buy them?
thanks

Either the military member or spouse with a dependent i.d. can purchase them.
