Using ME Late Evening

We will be flying into MCO around 8:30 PM on a Tuesday night. This is our first time using ME so I do not know what to expect as far as when our luggage will arrive in our room. Can we expect our luggage before midnight?

I would not be worried if we were flying in earlier in the day but since it is late evening and we have kids we most likely will go to the room and try to get the kids to sleep.

We will be carrying pajamas and extra clothes in our carry-ons. I mostly worried about having to stay up to wait on the luggage.

Disclaimer: I refuse to pick up my own luggage at baggage claim. I have no intention of lugging all of that through MCO with two kids. That defeats most of the purpose of using ME.

ME takes good care of your luggage. It is supposed to arrive within 3 hours of you arriving at your resort. If it's after midnight and you still don't have luggage, you may have a problem

My suggestion... have EVERYTHING you need for the first night/morning in your carryons (I think that's what you're doing, but wanted to make sure).

When you get to your resort, after you check in, get with luggage services and ask them to hold your luggage until you call for it.

There's still a chance they'll bring it up and wake you up, but if you aren't willing to get your own luggage, this is the best choice (IMO).

You can budget being at your resort around 10A. This means luggage should show up by 1A.

You can anticipate that you should get to your resort by 10 p.m. as previously noted. That means, however, that your luggage could arrive at your room as late as 1 a.m. - 2 a.m. even if things are working just right.

If you are staying at a moderate or deluxe resort, they will bring your luggage to you at that time unless you make arrangements to have it held until morning (and sometimes even if you do make such arrangements). If you want your bags held until morning make arrangements at the front desk when you check in AND put out your Do Not Disturb sign in case that information never makes it to Bell Services. That will give you the best chance of avoiding a late night knock on the door, but won't guarantee that it won't happen.

If you are at one of the value resorts, I believe that luggage services close up at midnight, so you probably would not get your bags until morning.

As Sam has indicated, it's always a good idea to bring what you're going to need for the first 12-24 hours in your carry-on bags regardless.

Note that if your flight is delayed and you arrive after 10 p.m. you will need to go collect your bags.
