Using MDE but not on day of?

We are booked for a Sunday to Sunday stay because of the way the special deal we got worked, but would like to come down Saturday to take best advantage of time off. We may end up doing 1 night with DVC, but also looking at just renting a car for the night and driving to the beach or Legoland. I would like to return the car at the airport the next day and use MDE then, is there rules with that? I'm assuming we would have to grab our luggage and carry it with us either way, but maybe someone can give me some advice.

You would need to grab your luggage, make sure not to tag it with the DME tags they send.

When making your reservation for MDE, either pick a flight number for the day your WDW reservation starts or tell them you do not have an arriving flight booked yet. Do make sure to give them the accurate return flight information as that is critical for pickup on your return to the airport.

i just called and told them i still wanted to use mde but had no flight and they asked what time i would like to use it and they happily changed it for me. easy
