Using Gift Cards

So, I have a little over a year to get ready for our next trip. I've been reading a lot about Disney gift cards and I'm intrigued. What are the best deals when buying a Disney gc? Can you buy a Disney gc at Target with a Target gc? I get a lot of Swagbucks that I use for Amazon gc's. Amazon doesn't offer Disney gc's but I can get a Rainforest Cafe gc and we want to eat there. I don't live near a grocery store that offers gc deals with gas deals so that is out. I'm not extremely close to a Target, but if there is a deal there I will make the trip.
Please tell me what I need to know.

You cannot buy Disney giftcards with a Target giftcard. You also cannot use the Amazon codes from Swagbucks to buy giftcards.

Some people have the Target debit/credit card which gives you 5% off all purchases. These can be used to buy Disney giftcards. It's not a big savings unless you are buying a whole lot of giftcards.

Some Sam's Clubs also offer very small discounts on Disney giftcard packs - like a dollar or so.

There aren't any other deals that I am aware of when buying Disney giftcards.

I just found out I can get 4% cash back through ebates if I buy Disney gc's through them. I'm really just interested in getting the gc's to pay for our food.

Why won't it work to buy a gift card from Amazon with a gift cert code I get from Swagbucks? All that does is put money on my account and deducts it when I make a purchase. I haven't actually tried it though. Also, will a Rainforest Cafe gc work at the AK Rainforest Cafe? I'd hate to get one and have it not work.

I tried to buy a giftcard with my amazon codes from Swagbucks. Even though I had enough in my account, it only gave me the option of using my credit card that was on file. I took the giftcard out of my cart, and put in something else to check and it gave me the option of using my account balance.

Somewhere in the fine print it says they can't be used on giftcards, but I wanted to try anyway. It didn't work though.

I don't know the answer to your question about Rainforest Cafe. It's probably a good idea to verify first.

Yes. I have used a Rainforest Cafe gift card at AK and DTD. I got the gift card from Mypoints.

You cannot buy Disney giftcards with a Target giftcard.

I was able to purchase Disney gift cards at Target using Target gift cards. Did this on several occasions at two different Target stores. The first time I asked the cashier if it was possible to pay using Target gift card and she said, "I don't know, let's try." The transaction went thru without any problems. Since then I have done it a number of times, most recently in December.

I have only read one account where someone got money back on Ebates for GC. I tried, as have others, with no success. I hadn't paid attention to the fine print "no ebates on Disney GC". As this was last year, if you are successful with Disney Ebates on GC, please let us know.

I will let you know after I try it. First, I'm going to purchase through MyPoints which will help me get a Rainforest Cafe gc.

The reason way it works at Target is because the Disney Gift Cards are listed as Entertainment Cards so its not buying a gift card with a gift card. you can also get the 5% off with your Target Credit Card/Debit Card, and if you ever get a coupon for a free Target Gift Card with a minimum purchase ($50 or $75) that works too.
