We have a reservation in July and I was going to go to Sam's Club and purchase gift cards to pay for our DDP. I looked at paying online and there's no option to pay by GC, so is it true that you can do this? If so, how? :confused3

You have to call MS to pay with Disney Gift Cards or the Disney Vacation Account.

I called MS and they said I have to contact DVC. But I was told it can be done! Although she mentioned something I never heard before, she said you can use points to pay for your dining plan??? I never heard that, is it true, and is there a place I can go look for the information, or do you need to call?

Thanks!! :thanks:

MS = DVC Member Services

Not sure who to talked to, but you can't use points for to pay for the dining plans.

Points can only be used for accommodations, it's in the DVC contract.

My mistake, I didn't talk to MS, I talked with the general Disney people, not from DVC. I talked to DVC today and they confirmed that I can use the gift cards, and I cannot use points, just as we thought!! Thanks!!

Can you pay for the DP using the Disney Visa Reward Dollars if renting points?

You'd have to arrange that with the DVC owner, but yes you can pay for a dining plan with Disney Visa Rewards.

Well I did it!! I bought 11 packs of Disney gift cards to pay for the DDP and MM and I saved $79.42!!

I've found it to be easier to deal with than multiple GC. Disney GC -> DVA -> one number for MS. I've had one opened for over a year now and whenever we decide on DDP, I just add a few more GC to it and then call to purchase DDP. Also, when we change our minds, the credit goes back into the account. Right now there's a $20 bonus for every $1000 spent.

The $20 per $1000 bonus would be on top of any savings you got when you purchased the Disney Gift Cards.

Alright, so maybe I'm a little brain dead trying to understand this!! :sad2: So instead of calling DVC and giving them the 33 gift card information I should have set up a DVA and put them in there first and then used the DVA account to pay for the DDP? :idea:

Yes.

The DVA also comes in handy if you want to purchase DVC APs and you have a stack of Disney Gift Cards. For APs, MS can only take 2 Gift Cards and the balance must be put onto a major CC.

So can I call and add gift cards to the DVA, or add them online in advance randomly, and then pay for the DDP that way rather then using a CC at all?

Open the DVA with a credit card- either a small $10 initial payment or I've heard you may set it up as a reoccurring withdrawal then cancel it. This opens your account. Then click on "make a one time contribution." Do this for each card.
I've added thousands this way. It's not too difficult.
