Using FP+ but Not Riding the Ride

We'll be going to Disney in September and there will be some rides that DH will want to ride but I won't be able to because I'll be very pregnant by that point.

What is the best thing for us to do? Should I just get the FP go through the ride with him and then walk across the car at loading at wait at the exit? It's only a few rides we would be talking about like Aerosmith and possibly a mountain or two. I figure this would probably work out better than me sitting around waiting for him to exit. We don't really want to split up FP right?

If you book a FP that you know you won't use, just realize that you will be taking a FP away from someone else that might be able to get that time slot. If it were me, I would just get the FP for your husband, and I would wait in the shade outside the ride (or in a store, or whatever). He won't be very long through the FP line so you won't be waiting forever. But that's just my opinion.

I would agree with this but then it would throw our FP off and if we wanted to do a 4 FP in a day it would be screwy because I would be one behind him. That's what I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep our FP together but not mess the system up for others.

Book all three FP together. Then the ones that you don't want to use, change individually. For example, I went with two teenage boys and we made FP for ToT, RnR, Star Tours. I get motion sick on Star Tours so I'd then change that individual FP for just me to something like Mermaid. That way I could ride the other two rides with them and then have one for me to do while they were on Star tours. It's much easier to make them all together and then change individually then to make separate ones and try to link a few of them.

It depends...

If you are interested in seeing the queue then going with him and asking to use the chicken exit at the end would work. Those of us who can not ride the ride but would like to appreciate the theme do this.

OR

Since you are pregnant you may appreciate the chance to rest. In this case you could get the same FP+ as your husband and simply give him your band to ride a second time.

OR

You could sign up for a FP+ for a ride for you that is close by at the same time.

Definitely agree about just holding up a FP for someone else who would ride it, especially RocknRoller Coaster and mountains, as they are popular rides? Are there rides you like that he doesn't care for? My mom loves the Pooh ride, IaSM and Philarmargic but my dad isn't the biggest fan and wouldn't be upset about missing them. So, make one for one of them, as you would be done around the same time.

If you must make a throw away FP, do it for a ride that wouldn't necessarily need it such as It's tough to be a bug at AK, Captain EO at EPCOT, American idol at HS if you are there before it closes or Muppets 3D, etc. Don't waste a tier 1 FP on something you aren't wanting to do.

But most rides are picky about you just walking across to the exit area. Some rides you can't, as they exit at a different point (Space, Everest, RnRC, etc)

ETA: Definitely a chicken exit would be safer than just walking across the vehicle. It would create a fall hazard which is bad for everyone but especially since you'll be pregnant.

I'd hand over my band to him and let him ride twice in a row during the window...once with his FP+ and once with yours. That doesn't eliminate you having to sit around and wait for him, but I'd get over that real fast with a Mickey bar or three, especially if you're late in your pregnancy.

Same here. Being pregnant sitting and relaxing at the exits may be better anyway.

Thanks using up a FP on a lesser ride sounds like a good option too, that way we aren't taking a spot up on the big ride.

And good to know about the exit area, I'm use to the six flags parks where when our friends chicken out they just have them walk right across the platform.

If you are sitting find a place to people watch...that in itself can be quite entertaining. Or find a place to eat nearby where you can get a free glass of ice water.

If you don't want to sit there are usually plenty of places close by that would have interesting details to discover that most people miss. You could pick up a Hidden Mickey book and hunt while he is riding. You could trade pins in the gift shop that will most certainly be near. If you are interested in photography this would be a nice time to take some close up or detail photos.

How pregnant? you said "very" pregnant... I'd imagine you may have issues attempting to enter the FP line for a roller coaster, the CM would probably turn you away since pregnant women cannot ride :confused3

Anyways, I would just plan to shop or relax while hubs rides :thumbsup2

I agree :)

My husband gave me his MB so I could go on Star Tours twice. He stayed with the kids and watched the Jedi Academy. I probably could have also used my son's band for a third ride, but the show was over by the time I got off from the second go and everyone was ready to move on.

My plan is to make the FP+ ressie and just let him ride twice using each of our MBs. I'll stay outside the line. I do not need ot be attached at the hip the entire time.

IIRC though doesn't the aerosmith coaster have a single rider line? or are those all goen now?

This ^
It's the perfect time to get a couple rides in on a favorite! Went to SWW with both DS. One a huge SW fan and wanted to do all the "shows/talks". We booked one with each band and then he just took our bands to go to the show while we did walk on attractions that needed no FP+. No need to waste and it's not like he'll be in line that long to split you guys up. Take a seat, rest your feet and maybe indulge in a nice treat!

- Thats exactly what I did DH was more than happy to take my band and go again!!!!

I wouldn't do the fastpass if I couldn't ride it and knew that going in.

And congrats on the pregnancy!

What I would do is take a camera and do lots of pictures while dad-to-be is riding. Then make a photo album of that and also include a photo of yourself sitting alone (trust me, lots of people will take that photo for you). And then caption it for your child with "Dad and Mom enjoy Disney World!"

Yes, mean but your child might snicker in ten years.

Or, you can really go for fun with "Dad is going off without Mom because *you* need to be born!"

Back on topic - for Rock N Roller Coaster, go to One Man's Dream. Same for Twilight Zone. For Space Mountain, go to the bleachers at the Speedway and sit. For Splash Mountain, go over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Same for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. For Expedition Everest, it's bit tricky but go to Rifiki's Planet Watch (opposite ends of the park but cell phones are useful). Anything at Epcot? Just walk around World Showcase Lagoon. And, again cell phones are useful.

Thanks. I do like the idea of giving him my band to go twice too. Come the time of the trip I'll be very pregnant, 26 weeks. I don't eat much now but I'm sure by then putting my feet up with ice cream will be great. It's also our Honeymoon and we've got the full package with memory maker and DDP, so plenty of snack credits to use. With memory maker I wasn't going to bring my DSLR around the park, but maybe I should. There are some really good ideas about getting different pictures at the park.

How does this work when you have to scan your finger to turn the Mickey head green? Does the CM just let you in?
