We are staying off site the first in disney. My question is I thought the ticket part of the magic bands were active whenever you wanted to use them. I ask this because last year we did the same thing, we stayed off site the first night then checked into pop the rat afternoon after the parks. Well last year we were first in line for rope drop at epcot we go to enter the park and the bands do not work. We had to see guest services and he was able to activate them so we could use them that day before checking in. Fast forward to today we went to downtown disney then decided to go ahead to pop and ask about the bands being active for tomorrow morning. She informed me the bands would not be active and we would have to stop at pop before going to the park in the morning. I think this is kind of silly and I thought you could go to the parks but I guess I thought wrong. Anyone else run into this problem?

I had a solo trip last February, and had to go to POFQ at 630am to get my MB activated before I checked in. I think that is the only way you can do it is to go to the resort first thing.

It's not that the MagicBands aren't activated, it's because you purchased a "Package" and the ticket portion doesn't become active until you check-in to your resort.

You can always activate your ticket portion at Guest Services at the park.

If you book a room-only and add on tickets separately, you can enter a park whenever you want prior to your resort stay because your tickets are active when you purchase them.

1. Correct.

2. Sorry, but that cannot be done ON the day of resort check-in.
That can only be done 1, 2 or 3 days BEFORE the day of resort check-in.

Sorry about the thread title being wrong lol

You can EDIT the TITLE of a thread that you originally posted in two ways-

1- Do not open the thread, but in the listing,
double-click in the dead-space just to the RIGHT of the thread title.
When the title "highlights," just retype the title and hit the RETURN/ENTER key.

2- Open the thread.
In the lower right corner, click on "Edit."
When that page opens, in the lower right corner, click on "Go Advanced."
In the box at the top of that page, retype your title.
In the lower center, click on "Save Changes."

Thanks! I guess the OP should have activated when at DTD.

Won't let me edit it from my iPhone sorry. Thing is we went to the front counter today and asked to activate the tickets they said they could not. So I am confused. Anywho we will just go in the morning and check in.

The resort can't activate the ticket portion prior to check-in but Guest Services at the Parks and DTD are able to. Even the Ticket Booth at the International Gateway can activate that portion.

1. That's not always the case, but I won't confuse the issue here.

2. Make that Guest RELATIONS found outside all of the park gates, or at TTC, or at two locations in DTD.

Thanks again! I think it is my Disneyland vocab coming through... Guest Relations was always a subset of Guest Services.

So, could a Concierge activate the ticket portion early if you are actually standing in the resort?

Or, could Guest Relations activate the ticket portion on your check-in day if you are actually at a park? Would they really turn a guest/family away?

1. Guest SERVICES is the (former) name of what is now widely called the RESORT CONCIERGE.
Guest RELATIONS are found at the parks (and not at the resorts.)

2. If a guest is currently staying at the SAME RESORT as where the PACKAGE tickets WILL BE. (i.e. staying at Wilderness Lodge as a room-only a few days before a PACKAGE will become active at the Wilderness Lodge) the concierge at that same resort should be able to activate the PACKAGE tickets up to 3 days early. (Yes, the guest needs to be standing at the concierge desk.)
That is, if the concierge knows how to do it and is willing to do it.

3. Guest Relations simply cannot activate a package ticket on the day of check-in.
It's not a matter of refusal. On check-in day, the RESORT must activate the package tickets at check-in.
