Is it difficult to use the disney buses + transportation once you get to the resort? Do we need to rent a car when we arrive if we are staying on the Disney property and visiting the parks?

Some people swear by Disney transportation and feel it does an adequate job of getting you from one place to another. Others feel they prefer the flexibility of having their own transportation, especially for traveling between resorts which can be cumbersome by bus.

We use Disney transportation even when driving our own vehicle to Florida. My DH loves the fact that once he arrives, he can park and not have to drive all week. I will say that it adds travel time to the parks, but we have not had to wait long for buses at any time. I have always wondered just how much time it adds since you are dropped off right at the entrance to the parks. When you drive and park yourself, you need to take a tram to the gate.

It can add a lot of time if you are trying to eat at a different resort than the one that you are staying in. But honestly, we go with the knowledge that it will take time to get there and leave in plenty of time. We eat at the park or at a monorail resort...we have also gone to dinner by using the boat to get to Hoop De Doo. It's doable and not terribly difficult...just allow for the time to get there and back.

We love the convenience and the fact that we can relax and let Disney do the driving. I can't help you with Magical Express...we are using it for the first time on our next trip.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

It's easy although you may get impatient. It's similar to riding the bus in any city.

Just go to the platform or dock, wait in line, and board the bus or boat or monorail.

No fares are collected on board.

Do be aware that going from one resort to another resort requires a transfer. Going from a park to Downtown Disney requires a transfer (at a resort). Disney has suggested allowing an hour and a half for these trips.

It is very easy to use the buses.

We rely solely on Disney transportation when we get there.

As said above you can't go from resort to resort, you need to go to a park or DTD and transfer but it really isn't that hard.

If you have a map of the whole WDW property you just look to see what is close to which resort and go there.

Also if you are going to any of the Monorail resorts, taking a bus to MK then transfer to the Monorail resort line is very easy.

So we think it is very easy to get around. Sometimes you may have to wait for a bus but it really isn't that long. They say it can take up to 20 mins but the longest we have waited that was once...at AKL.
